Shropshire is simply stuffed full of interesting things to do, amusing sights to see and fun places to visit. This handy little guide will show you some of the very best places to pass the time and keep you and yours entertained. So where to start?
Meet the Victorians at Blists Hill town in Ironbridge – it’s a World Heritage Site where 10 hands-on museums bring the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution to life. More Victorians (along with the animals of course) can be found at Acton Scott, setting for TV’s Victorian Farm.
From farm to plate – Ludlow Food Centre, voted Britain’s Best Farm Shop, will certainly tickle your taste buds and the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre brings food and the landscape of the Shropshire Hills together; it is also home to the impressive Shropshire Mammoth. If you want to pick up a bottle or two of something very special to go with all that food, the Dickensian wine cellars at Tanners in Shrewsbury are just the place to go.
Severn Valley Railway celebrates 50 golden years of steaming through the beautiful Shropshire countryside, whilst RAF Museum Cosford lets you get up close and personal with some of Britain’s most iconic aircraft. For those with energy to burn swinging from the trees at Go Ape, or mountain boarding at the Edge should do the trick.
With over 30 castles and historic properties, numerous gardens and nurseries and 22 unique market towns full of independent shops you may well have to visit Shropshire again and again simply to fit everything in.
P.S. Look out for the discount vouchers and special offers.
Welcome to Shropshire
