Acts 2:1-4When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
In The Old Testament• “The Spirit of God was hovering over the
waters” (Genesis 1:2). He is the first person of the godhead to be spoken of.
• The Holy Spirit anointed people in the O.T and we frequently read about His activity. He prophesied through prophets, anointed people for service like the judges and kings, and dealt with people’s hearts in loving conviction.
In The New Testament• A. The Holy Spirit of God conceived
Jesus in the womb of Mary (Luke 1:35).• B. He was present descending upon
Jesus bodily as a dove at His baptism (Luke 3:22).
• C. The Spirit anointed Jesus preaching ministry (Luke 4:16), and gave Him supernatural power to perform signs and wonders (Matthew 12:28)..
In The New Testament• D. After His resurrection, Jesus
promised His disciples, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
In The New Testament• E. Jesus kept His promise on the Day
of Pentecost, as God poured out the Holy Spirit upon the 120 believers waiting in Jerusalem (Acts 2:1-4). (NOTE: 120)
• F. The rest of Acts and the Epistles record the purposeful work of the Holy Spirit in the church and in missions.
I. The Holy Spirit exalts Jesus.• Primary Focus and consistent
operation.• Following the Baptism of the Holy
Spirit at Pentecost, Peter preached about “Jesus of Nazareth.” (Acts 2:22-41).

Whatever the Spirit does will line up with Scripture because the
Spirit inspired Scripture to begin with. The two
will always agree.
Romans 8:11“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you”.
The Holy Spirit is at work in every area of
our lives and church… we just need to be
sensitive and cooperate.
