International DaySaturday, September 14, 2013 was

International Day. Some parents came andwatched and helped us with our stands aboutdifferent countries. We worked at our stands, but also played at other activities. Parentscooked and brought food from around theworld. It was served in the cafeteria.

My favorite event that happened on

International Day was the Parade of Flagsbecause I got to learn about other countries. My class (G3), was representing the countryof Lithuania. We had Are You the AverageHeight of a Lithuanian?, Make Your OwnCoat of Arms, and the Mini BasketballChallenge. I worked during the first shift forbasketball. I also ate the Lithuanian breadand it tasted DELICIOUS! It was kind of hard

and the color was brown. There were alsotiny holes in the bread.

    Year Book Picture Day

    Seat-belts on the

    School Bus

    by Andy the Ham

Last year, a carbumped the school bus. Thestudents on the bus wereafraid because of thewiggling of the bus. The busdriver kept us safe and wewere transferred to anotherbus.

    This is the reason why

we have to wear seat beltson our school bus. Students

do not like the seat beltsbecause they are tight, butthey know why they are

    necessary.

    Stay safe, QISS!

    Dont forget to wear

    your hat at recess!

    QISS Spotlight

    by Roy the Cheese

    I interviewed Ms.

May last week and asked her 3important questions.

    Roy: How old are you?

Ms. May: 13Roy: Where do you live?

Ms. May: I dont know.Roy: How many students

    are you going to eat?

    Ms. May: All of them.

I love Ms. May because she

always has interesting things forus. For example, she has stickswith our names on them from

which we can pick a beanbag, read a book, or even watch a

movie.Ms. May has a fake friend

and his name is Mr. Thing. This is

part of how she keeps us fromsaying the word thing; we must

say item, or object. Many grade

3s know that Ms. May is

creative and she has lots of funideas about how to teach us.She even says she wants to eat

students. I once saw Ms. Maywhen I was out with Ms. Ho and

Ms. May said, This boy smellslike ketchup! I just ran away.

Ms. May has a lot of skills

    with electronics, teaching, &recess duty.

    I love Ms. May!

    Upper SchoolSports at QISS

    by Elia ParlantiRight now, there

    are no upper school

    ACAMIS events. But

    last year, I saw a

QISS vs YCIS soccergame. QISS lost

    1-0. QISS played

    well, but YCIS

    played better and

    QISS lost the

    competition.

    I hope we win the

    ACAMIS soccer

    tournament this

    year. I hope our

    team plays like

    professional soccer

    players.Im very excited

    about the next

    match!

    by Danny Han (G5)

We had swimming classlast week. Everythingwas fine until I went tothe locker. I put on anold slipper that wasvery slippery. I walkednormally, but my

slipper is slippery, remember? I slippedand fell overbackwards. One thingI know is: I WILL NOTUSE THAT SLIPPERAGAIN.

Another time, I had tojump off the diving

board for the first time, but it was too high (orso I thought). I had tosit on the board andslide off to go into thewater!

    Story Corner

    History of the Sun

    by Norah Mou (G4)

Once upon a time, there were a groupof ice monsters who lived on the Sun.Each morning they woke up and usedtheir magic to make the Sun colder andcolder. Days passed by and the sunturned -6000000000000000000000degrees cold.

One day, there was a thunderstormthat created 3000 strikes of lightning. The lightning shot the sun and the sunbecame hotter and hotter. Later, the icemonsters all melted into water. Thenanother group of people came to live on

the sun and they were fire monsters. On April 13, 2013 many fire

    monsters died because of headaches.

They couldnt find any medicine so theyall died. 2000 years passed and the sunbecame full of fire again and because ofthis, the sun shines for every planet inthe system.

    The Solar System

    by Megan Mou (G4)

Do you know what a solar systemis? Do you know how many planets arein the solar system? Let me tell you. A

solar system is where the Sun andplanets are. There are eight planets inthe solar system. The names of theplanets are Mercury, Venus, Earth,Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, Saturn, andNeptune. The planets orbit around theSun again and again.

Mercury is the planet that is theclosest to the Sun. Mercury and Venusare the hottest planets in the solarsystem. If you were in space than you

would see that Venus seems to be thehottest because of its color.Earth is the only planet that people,

animals, and plants can live on. TheEarths surface is seventy four percent

covered by ocean and water.Mars is also very interesting,

because there is a huge mountain therecalled Mount Olympus. It is three timesbigger than Mount Everest.

Jupiter has a great red spot andthere is a storm there that will last forfour hundred years.

Uranus is a planet that is tilted. It isvery cold there. Saturn is a planet that is

very, very light. It can float on rivers.Neptune is a planet that has a strongwind. Earths strongest wind comparedto Neptunes worst wind would still notbeat Neptunes wind.

Every planet is unique, so if youhave time look at some videos about thesolar system.
