DOWNTOWN PARK

Opening late 2019

The Downtown Park has been approved. The design for this much anticipated community gathering place,

located in the heart of downtown where the famed Desert Inn once stood, will focus on the space, stillness,

solitude and simplicity of Palm Springs that was espoused by Desert Inn founder, Nellie Coffman. Created by Los

Angeles-based Rios Clementi Hale Studios following extensive community input from several public meetings,

the goal of the park's design is to provide an oasis that builds community with an emphasis on health, nature

and pleasure.

The park is also expected to be the future home of the Palm Springs Art Museum's Aluminaire House and the

wildly popular 22-foot "Forever Marilyn" sculpture, when she returns to Palm Springs.

NEW PROPERTIES BEING DEVELOPED

TOVA HOTEL + BEACH CLUB

Opening 2018 | 1875 N Palm Canyon Drive

TOVA Hotel + Beach Club is a renovation of, and an addition to, the former Shilo Inn. The existing three guest

room buildings will undergo a complete renovation and modernization, with a major façade upgrade,

including new courtyard glass balcony rails for unrestricted views into the Beach Club pool deck, new

stairs/vertical circulation, and a full renovation of the room interiors. The existing lobby building will undergo a

dramatic transformation and extensive renovation, opening up a 2 story lobby space facing N Palm Canyon

drive. The renovated lobby building will include a lobby café/bar and lounge, two executive meeting rooms

and a day spa offering massage, blowout bar and nails. The project will introduce a new Beach Club pool

house building serving as access control to the heart of the project. In addition, a new 3-meal fine-dining

restaurant will be constructed featuring a menu developed specifically for TOVA by a well-known celebrity

chef. The restaurant will seat approximately 140 guests in the main dining room/bar and an additional 90 guests

on and exclusive rooftop terrace skylounge. TOVA seeks to create a new standard for the desert luxe resort

unlike any other in Palm Springs

ANDAZ PALM SPRINGS

The Andaz, an affiliate of the Hyatt brand, will create inspiring experiences and immerse guests into the local

culture. The 150-guestroom, 13-suite, luxury lifestyle hotel will be in the heart of downtown Palm Springs

adjacent to the vibrant Uptown Design District, and walking distance to shops, restaurants and galleries along

Palm Canyon Drive. The space will include some 30,000 square feet of street level retail space with a mix of

restaurants, clothing shops, boutiques and galleries. The layout calls for guest rooms to be distributed across the

second-floor deck with private garden spaces around each room. Construction has been approved to move

forward and the loan secured by Real Development Corporation as developer.

DREAM PALM SPRINGS

Dream Palm Springs will open with 169 rooms, 30 private residences, multiple restaurants and bars, and more

than 10,000 square feet of flexible meeting space in late 2019. Ideally situated in the heart of downtown Palm

Springs, the hotel’s presence will contribute to an important area of the city.

HBA centered the design of Dream Palm Springs on the idea of a California dream, specifically the cool, yet

relaxed dream of the desert. The hotel will respect and honor the idealism of modernism, providing an

experience before aesthetics. A culture of connection and kindness, where all walks of life come together

effortlessly, is key. Abundant glass enhances the physical connection and interaction to the landscape and

water features. Utilizing open spaces and unobstructed glazing will visually reward the viewer at the end of their

journey of discovery. Materials are authentically and honestly used in their natural state, allowed to exist

harmoniously in the new space.

AGUA CALIENTE CULTURAL CENTER

Opening 2020 | Located adjacent to the Spa Resort Casino

Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians unveiled plans for a 5.8-acre cultural center in the heart of downtown

Palm Springs that celebrates the history, culture and traditions of the Agua Caliente people. Groundbreaking

for the new cultural center is scheduled for early 2018 with a two-year construction cycle. The cultural center

will feature an envisioned Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, a new Agua Caliente Spa and Bathhouse that

celebrates the Tribe’s ancient Agua Caliente Hot Mineral Spring, a Gathering Plaza, gardens and an Oasis Trail.

Infusion Beach Club

Virgin Hotels, the lifestyle hotel brand by Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson, has been approved for

construction in downtown Palm Springs. The property will be managed by Virgin Hotels and developed by Grit

Development. Virgin Hotel Palm Springs will feature 150 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining and drinking

outlets, including the brand’s flagship space, The Commons Club; numerous meeting spaces; and a rooftop

terrace and pool overlooking the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains. In addition, a new outdoor public

event space fronting the Palm Springs Art Museum will offer guests complimentary VIP seats to concerts, movies

and other cultural performances. Located in the heart of downtown at Main Street & Palm Canyon Drive, the

hotel will be surrounded by historic desert modern architecture and within walking distance to an array of art

galleries, vintage shopping and top-notch restaurants.

Holiday House is a 28-room boutique hotel located in downtown Palm Springs. Originally opened in 1951, the

hotel was designed by noted architect Herbert W. Burns. Today, it has been reimagined by interior designer

Mark D. Sikes and the team behind Sparrows Lodge. The property features midcentury inspired elements

combined with a communal atmosphere and whimsical edge. The design centers around Gio Ponti inspired

tile-work in the bar and artwork throughout the property including pieces by David Hockney, Roy Liechtenstein,

Herb Ritts, Alex Katz and Mr. Brainwash, with a garden sculpture by Donald Sultan. In order to create a

communal environment, Holiday House does not have televisions in our rooms. Guests must be 21 and over to

This was the former Delicatesse and the new owners have given the place a modern hip and rustic

facelift. They streamlined the menu to focus on what they do best: Bratwurst, meat & cheese plates, waffles,

The wall of fame photos of Mel Haber with Lucille Ball, John Travolta, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Lewis and

the Fords are still prominent inside the Palm Springs restaurant. They've just been reframed and moved to

another wall to better highlight what's inside. A reframing of sorts is what has happened across the entire

property to refresh the Ingleside Inn and Melvyn’s Restaurant, formerly owned by Haber and known as

legendary celebrity hot spot back in the day. Inside Melvyn's the bar was stripped to its original look, the interior

Palm Springs residents traded in one Starbucks location for a bigger, shinier, fancier and more caffeinated one

right across the street. Starbucks Reserve offers all the delicious drinks from the popular coffee shop’s core

menu, but what makes it special is the new immersive Reserve experience bar, inspired by Starbucks’ Seattle

Reserve Roastery. Instead of table after table, there are lounging areas, where people can sit, sip and mingle.

On one side is the traditional coffee counter where patrons can order the traditional Starbucks drink items. The

other side is the coffee bar with seating for 12 where guests can saddle up on a wooden stool to see their

special brewed coffee made and poured in front of them. Special brewing methods include: Clover brewed,

pour-over, cold brew, nitro cold brew, coffee press, chemex and siphon. There are also coffee ice cream

drinks such as the cold brew malt which is described as "an ultra-thick blended malted milkshake with our small-

lot cold brew, ice cream and chocolate bitters." The siphon brew method creates a "silky" cup of coffee that

can be sniffed like wine and slurped to enhance the experience.
