Place your Audigy 2 NX on a flat surface. 4. Plug the power adapter into a power outlet and turn on the outlet, if needed. 5. Press the Power button on your Audigy 2 NX. Windows automatically detects the device and searches for device drivers. 6. When prompted for the audio drivers, click the Cancel button. IMPORTANT: In Windows 98 SE/Me, if Windows detects the new hardware and prompts you to install the USB device drivers, click the Cancel button. USB port(s) can be found on the front, side or back panel of your computer. Creative USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX should only be powered by the supplied universal power adapter. If you did not receive a Windows 98 SE installation CD with your computer but received a Recovery Disk, the necessary Windows files may already be located at c:\windows\options\ cabs (replace c:\ with the letter of your hard disk drive). After Windows has automatically detected the USB audio device, and you have clicked the Cancel button, do the following: 1. Insert the Audigy 2 NX Installation and Applications CD into your CD-ROM drive. If Windows AutoPlay mode is enabled for your CD-ROM drive, the CD starts running automatically. If not, you need to enable your CD-ROM drive's auto-insert notification feature. Alternatively, from your Windows desktop, click Start -> Run and type d:\ctrun\start.exe (replace d:\ with the drive letter of your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive) 2. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. 3. When prompted, restart your computer. 3 Enabling Direct Memory Access and digital CD playback Digital CD playback may not be available on external DVD/CD- ROM drives with PCMCIA IDE controllers. CD volume is controlled by the Wave slider in the Audio Mixer application. 1. To optimise audio playback performance, Direct Memory Access (DMA) must be enabled for your storage devices. 2. Audigy 2 NX does not support analog CD audio playback. To listen to audio CDs, digital CD playback must be enabled. 3. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the Audigy 2 NX User's Guide. Go to Start -> Programs -> Creative -> USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX -> Documentation -> Online Manual. 2 Installing Drivers and Applications

For Windows 98 SE systems, the Windows 98 SE Operating System Installation CD may be required during installation.
