I would like TeamRock to publish my magazine, as they have a very similar beliefs and a huge focus on my genre, which is the support my magazine needs to evolve and be successful. But obviously because they already own several Rock magazines, as well as Metal Hammer, TeamRock will have little to gain with adding another metal magazine to compete with their already successful products. What kind of media institution might distribute my media product and why?

Time Inc. UK

After some research I have come the decision to choose Time Inc. UK to distribute my magazine, Volume.

Time Inc. UK (originally known as IPC Media) were founded in 1968 and were sold off in 1998 by Cinvern to Time Inc. As of September 2014, the company was formally rebranded to Time Inc. UK. They’re a subsidiary of Time Inc. that distributes consumer magazines and digital publisher based in the United Kingdom, with a large portfolio selling over 350 million copies each year.

Time Inc. distributes a huge variety of diverse magazine products across the UK.

Why Time Inc. UK?• Time Inc. UK is Britain’s leading publisher of print and digital magazine

content. Working for such a large company means my magazine will receive more funding, leading to better content etc.

• Time Inc. UK also have a huge amount of support for advertising to ensure my product is successful:

“Supporting our portfolio is our advertising team - that works in partnership with clients and agencies to create bespoke advertising solutions across all of our brands and across a variety of platforms - and Marketforce, the UK's leading newstrade sales and distribution company.”• In April 2012, Time Inc. UK won an award for Best Production Team of the Year

at the Professional Publishers Association Production and Environment Awards 2012. They are a reliable company to supply my product.

Time Inc. has offices all over the world. Over time, there is potential for my magazine to be sold worldwide if part of Time Inc.

Would Time Inc. UK be interested in Volume?

• Time Inc. UK only have two specialist music magazines, the hugely successful NME and Uncut.

• Uncut is aimed for older audiences so won’t affect my magazine as its catered for a younger audience.

• NME is similar to Volume in that it does regularly feature Rock artists. However, Volume almost purely focuses on Metal artists, which is what will differentiate it from NME.

• The two of them perhaps may even be able to advertise one another, as it’s likely many Rock fans show at least some interest in Metal.

• Time Inc. UK would likely be interested in my magazine despite the niche audience, as they already publish a large amount of niche audience magazines like “Country Life” or “Decanter”.
