Evaluation Question 3 The company that will publish and distribute my Music/Motion Media genre magazine ‘MUSICinMOTION’ will be Bauer Media Group. This is because they already publish a music magazine and a film magazine therefore my magazine will suit them more as this shares 2 common genres of 2 magazine they publish which are Empire and MOJO. My magazines target audience is the Medium-High class social status aimed at roughly early teens to adults (13yrs- 30yrs). The target audience of the Empire, Q and MOJO magazine that Bauer already produce all relate to my hybrid genre therefore a magazine that includes multiple conventions and pieces of content similar to those magazine will attract my target audience. A disadvantage with Bauer publishing my magazine is the cost to have it made by a well known company and it could have competition with their other entertainment magazines. However the advantages outweigh this as they have the connections and distributers to sell my magazine across the world and it can be published in multiple languages. Bauer Media Group have online versions and do subscription for some of their magazines with some of these having interactive online editions of the magazine which will be essential for my magazine to advertise the Music and Media in the particular issue of the month. My primary UK distributer for my magazine will be WHSmiths as they have the publicity for selling and distributing magazines as well as advertising them. Also a majority of their store content is next to/near the magazine shelves in their stores therefore the majority of their customers have to walk past or will see magazines every time they enter a WHSmiths store. The potential of my magazine varies in the middle of the success range as an important element of my magazine is the new motion media news and music therefore it relies on other peoples work to attract the target audience. The online version of my magazine will feature recorded/videoed interviews, film trailers and even behind the scenes content and articles that can have commentary from the editors and writes of my magazine. This relates to most DVD’s having the directors/writers providing commentary on their behind the scene videos and deleted scenes.
