WHAT IT MEANS
WHEN TWO BECOME ONE
The Facts: Breast Cancer!!! 1 in 8 women or 12.6% of all women will develop
breast cancer in their lifetime Breast cancer risks increase with age Every 13 minutes, a woman dies of breast cancer 77% of women with breast cancer are over 50 Ninety-six percent of women who find and treat
breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years
You are never too young to develop breast cancer! Breast Self-Exam should begin by the age of twenty.
Coming Together w/ Cooper High School for Susan G. Komen!!!
Matadors CareThere are many ways to raise money for breast
cancer. Our student council chose to sell breast cancer t-shirts, and wristbands.
Consider This!!!Have a powder-puff game at your school to raise money for breast cancer, maybe have a $2.00 admission fee
Have a bake sale to raise money, sale cookies and/or cupcakes; students LOVE goodies!
You can also have a “pink pep-rally!” make the theme of the rally, ALL PINK. You can have a booth set up to sell breast cancer accessories in the pep rally, like bracelets or key chains
In Middle School? This is for You!Middle Schools can’t do all the activities high schools can, like powder-puff
games; however, all hope IS NOT lost! You too can raise money!
If you are in middle school you can set up water jugs throughout your school and have students
and teachers drop their loose change in the jugs. Consider making it a competition to make it more interesting. i.e. each grade for themselves.
All proceedings can go to Susan G. Komen
Another idea is to sell tickets for 1-$2.00 which will allow students to get out maybe 15 minutes early for lunch, this has been
proven to be a great money-maker!
