Create application development guidelines to ensure iOS 8 app extensions and productivity features can be used without putting corporate data at risk.

Leave the old desktop content sharing paradigm behind and define a new mobile content strategy which curates and publishes meaningful content to targeted audiences through an EMM.

Personal Apps Work Apps

HomeKit and HealthKit put lots of new personal information on devices.

IT should avoid performing global actions on a user’s

device, such as a full device wipe, which can destroy personal data and put a user's well-being at risk.

Selective management of apps and data, as well as protection and separation of personal and corporate data, are proven ways to secure confidential user information on either corporate- or employee-owned devices.

Companies shouldprovide transparency into which

iOS 8 introduces new application development frameworks that open up many possibilities for new inter-app communication.

Marketing publishes a new product brochure as an iBook.

The user can download a datasheet directly to the enterprise container using Managed Safari Downloads.

The datasheet cannot be opened with personal apps...

...but can be opened with managed enterprise apps.

This enterprise app takes advantage of the new Touch ID API, which quickly authenticates the user and provides access to the datasheet.

Certificate-Based Single Sign-On (SSO) allows the user to authenticate without having to log back in to the intranet.

The iBook includes a link to the secure intranet with more information about the product.

A company datasheet can be opened by App #1.

App #1 allows the user to make edits to the content.

Using App Extensibility, App #1 can also modify the datasheet using features provided by App #2 without launching App #2. An example would be adding a watermark.

The user can then share the updated datasheet using the new Share App Extension without ever leaving App #1.
