Company: East Coast Athletics Mission: Provide conditioning and sports specific training as well as Team Play at a reasonable price to a large span of ages and abilities Culture: ECA will function as a Market Culture; “organizations with this culture are driven by competition and a strong desire to deliver results and accomplish goals” (p. 39). The fitness world is currently booming and there are recreation facilities like ECA opening at a rapid pace. Therefore, East Coast Athletics would stay innovative by focusing on what its competitors are doing in the field in order to keep up to date in pricing and all around quality of services being provided. Though ECA values stability and control we as a company would like to stay flexible for our employee’s and use some clan culture philosophies in order to ensure the employee’s remain happy with the company and the overall environment. The Company will run with an open door policy, taking this into consideration we as a company realize that it is harder for some employee’s than others to approach a leader with new ideas. To ensure all employees are heard there will be a suggestion box set up in the employee locker room for suggestions on procedures, scheduling, or any new ideas an employee may have to bring to the table. Like stated previously ECA wants to stay flexible for its employees so the suggestion box will be reviewed weekly. New ideas will be reviewed and implemented at our monthly staff meeting on the first Sunday of every month. The monthly staff meeting will also be used to review our dollar goals and statistics, as well as our values as a market culture, and what we value and want to see overall happen as a team. One of the new benchmark companies I have looked into and researched about is called TEAMWORKS, in the sports and athletic industry with four locations in New England that are widely known. Two other organizations within the same industry are The Habitat located in Uxbridge Massachusetts

These three organizations demonstrate the clan and market culture best in relation to our company culture we are building for, East Cost Athletics ECA.

From chapter three in our text book the concept societal culture: involves shared values norms identities and interpretations that result from common experiences of members of collectives that are transmitted over time. (chapter 3 page 37) Then from chapter six Job Design: also referred to as job redesign “refers to any set of activities that involves the alteration of specific jobs or interdependent systems of jobs with the intent of improving the quality of employee job experience and their on-the-job productivity”

The organizational societal culture within our organization ECA is an very important aspect of our environment. Societal culture is the social characteristic of an organization, an as a recreational fun organization leisure is key. Societal culture or the social interactions we are trying to create

Clan Cultures: family-like, with a focus on mentoring, nurturing, and doing things together. Market Cultures: focus on competition, achievement, and “getting the job done”

What are the best practices we want in our organizational culture? Innovation and risk taking-

Meeting with employees and asking for their input on clinics, programs, camps, ect. With everything we offer

Finding out what needs improvement How to improve areas that need to be changed Discovering new programs, clinics, camps, and other ideas to offer Taking a risk knowing the innovation may fail or not be successful
