Weston Public School
School Purpose - to create a happy, secure and successful school
environment through effective teaching and learning.
Term 1 Week 6 5th March, 2019
PBL Focus of the Week:
What is Bullying? Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,
Welcome to Term 1 Week 6!
National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence
Next Friday, 15th March is the official ‘National Day of Action Against
Bullying and Violence’. Students have been exploring this topic closely during
PBL and will be engaged in a number of learning opportunities next week to
help strengthen their understanding of what bullying is and what they can do
about it. These activities will also have a strong focus on Cyber-Safety and we
encourage all parents to have a discussion with their child/ren regarding this
important topic. Parents/Carers can go onto the website ‘Bullying No Way’ to
read additional information. https://bullyingnoway.gov.au/
As National Anti-Bullying Day is closely linked with Harmony Day that occurs
the following week we would like to encourage children to wear orange next
Friday to symbolise living in peace with each other.
School Photos
School photos will be taken this year on Thursday, 28th March. All students
received an envelope last week where Parents/Carers can tick what package
they may like to purchase. Like last year Parents/Carers have the option of
paying using cash or credit card. If you would like sibling photos taken on the
day please see the office and ask for a sibling photo envelope.

Head Lice
Please remember that Monday
night is ‘Hair Check Night’. We
need to be vigilant with this
practice to prevent the
spreading of head lice.
Health Care Plans
Last week ALL students who are
on a Health Care Plan were
asked to take this plan to their parent/carer for
updating. It is Departmental Policy that all plans be
updated annually to help ensure the safety of your
child/ren. We ask these plans be updated by either
yourself or if needed your G.P who can complete an
Asthma/Anaphylactic Action Plan provided to your
child last week. If you did not receive a Health Care
Plan and you feel your child needs one please see the
office staff.

Zone Under 11’s team.

Play the Game Weston Public School
We are off to a busy and exciting term in 1/2 Kookaburras.
We have been loving our weekly robotics lessons in the library and P.E with Mrs Spruce every Tuesday. We have been working hard in Daily 5 to practise our reading and writing and we are building a strong sense of number during Maths. We really like our Friday
dance-offs with 2/3 Pelicans at our Dance 2B Fit sessions.
