KNOW YOUR WELLNESS NUMBERS - What you Need to Know About Your Numbers Blood Pressure (a screening for hypertension)
Blood pressure measures the force of blood exerted against the walls of the arteries as it is pumped through the body. When the heart beats faster or harder than normal, when there is an increase in blood volume (such as in pregnancy for example), or when arteries are narrowed, this force increases and blood pressure rises. Blood pressure is reported as two numbers: systolic (when the heart contracts) over diastolic (when the heart is relaxed).
Active Lifestyle Heart Rate (a screening for cardiovascular function)
Active Lifestyle Heart Rate is the pace your heart beats during a low impact activity. This metric shows how hard the heart is working just to do its job. An elevated rate indicates your heart is working harder than it should under non-strenuous conditions. Regular physical activity keeps this number in check. Your heart is a muscle, and just like your biceps, the heart needs to be kept active in order to stay strong. When the heart is strong, it can recover more quickly after strenuous events, and not work as hard to pump fresh blood through the body.
Cholesterol (a screening for cardiovascular disfunction)
Cholesterol is a waxy substance that is necessary for multiple functions within the body, but having numbers out of range is linked with cardiovascular disease, heart attack and risk of stroke.

When there’s too much sugar in your diet or your body isn’t efficient at clearing it, blood glucose levels rise. This is a marker for Type II Diabetes.
