Welcome to the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France...

On behalf of our Archbishop, Most Rev. Gregory M. Aymond, our parishioners, deacons, and priests, I welcome you to St. Louis Cathedral and hope that your visit will be a memorable one.

I invite you to consider the Cathedral your parish away from home. It is my prayer that your time here will be a spiritually uplifting experience. I appreciate your generosity in the support of our Cathedral. It is with your help that we are able to maintain its beautiful state, that we may continue to worship God within these walls as has been done since 1718. May God enrich you with many graces and blessings.

FOOD FROM HEAVEN

God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them twice that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever experienced before.

Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven, food that the Jewish people had never experienced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, explaining He is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Archbishop Aymond’s Prayer (when faced with fears of Coronavirus)

Loving and faithful God, the coronavirus reminds us that we have no power and we are dependent on You. We place ourselves in Your loving hands. Please give eternal rest to all who have died from the virus. Please put Your healing hand on those who are ill, and give Your protection to us in this time of fear and uncertainty. Please, calm our fears and help us to trust You as our faithful God. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, pray for us in this time of need.

Due to governmental advisories related to the coronavirus, the Old Ursuline Convent Museum remains closed at this time.

POPE FRANCIS’ PRAYER INTENTION FOR JUNE

The Way of the Heart

We pray that all those who suffer may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the Heart of Jesus. In addition, Pope Francis asks that we join him in prayer every day as he prays for intentions closely related to the pandemic, the great challenge that is facing humanity and the Church’s mission.

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION As the City of New Orleans and the nation continue to face the many challenges of COVID-19 and the racial tensions arising in society, New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond will lead a Eucharistic procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi, this Sunday, following the 11 am Sunday Mass at St. Louis Cathedral. Unlike the Eucharistic processions of the past, this will be a simple “walk with Jesus” around Jackson Square to pray for the community and the world. After the procession, Benediction will take place in front of St. Louis Cathedral. All are welcome to attend and are reminded that social distancing must be in effect and masks worn in public as per the guidance of civil officials.
