Welcome to Student-Led Conferences
Today is your chance to experience a
“Day in the Life of a 5th Grader.”
Morning Routines
Each morning Mr. Lee picks us up from the basketball courts. We come into the classroom quietly and we say the Pledge of Allegiance and recite the preamble to the Declaration of Independence. Let me recite the preamble for you….
Then it’s time for homeroom reading!
Homeroom Reading
• This gives us a time to read to self, finish work we are behind on, or work with Mr. Lee.
• My favorite novel I’ve read to self this year so far is……
• At 9:15 we switch for the rest of reading.
Reading Reading takes up a lot of
our morning. It is the time when we focus on reading including reading strategies, comprehension, vocabulary, and literary elements.
Most weeks we have a “menu” of different things to work on during the week when we aren’t reading or meeting with Mr. Lee.
I think I am best at…

MathAt 11:15 we start math. We have spent a lot of time on multiplication, division, fractions, and measurement. For our math lessons, we often use a math textbook.
When we come in we start right

Mr. Lee introduces us to the concept and usually does examples and practice problems on the board, and then we do a lot of practice problems on our own.
Here is my math textbook…..
