WhatisFamilyAccess? FamilyAccessisaweb-basedservicethatallows

parents/guardiansandstudentstoviewschool-relatedinformationanywheretheyhaveaccesstotheInternet.Informationavailableonlineincludes:

TheinformationinFamilyAccessis“realtime”basedonthedatainthedistrict’sSkywardStudentInformationSystem.Pleasekeepinmindthatgradesarefluidandcanchangedaily/weeklyastheteachersaddassignmentsandgradestothesystem.Pleaseallowupto5daysaftertheduedateformostassignmentstobepostedinthegradebook(largerassignmentsandprojectsmaytakelonger).

FamilyAccessisapasswordprotectedsiteintendedforusebythespecificusertowhichtheaccountwasissued.PLEASEKEEPYOURUSERNAMEANDPASSWORDCONFIDENTIALtoavoidunauthorizeduseofyouraccount.Eachparentandstudentwillbeissuedauniqueusernameandpassword.Parentshavedifferentlevelsofaccessanddifferenttypesofinformationthanwhatstudentswillhave.Itisimportantthatyouusetheaccountthatwascreatedforyou.Otherindustrystandardsecuritymeasuresareinplacetoensurethatinformationandcreditcardtransactionsaredonesecurelyandsafely.FamilyAccesswillrunonChrome,InternetExplorer,FirefoxandSafariwebbrowsersandwithMacOS10.6ornewerandWindowsVistaorneweroperatingsystems.

Getting Started

UserNameandPasswordAusernameandpasswordarerequiredtouseFamilyAccess.Yourusernameandpasswordwillbeprovidedtoyoubyyourchild’shomeroomteacher.Ifyouregisteredforschoolafterthebeginningoftheyear,itshouldbeprovidedtoyouwhenyoushortlyafterregisteringyourstudentinLakelandSchoolSystem.Ifyouneedtohavetheusernameandpasswordresenttoyou,pleasecallore-mailtheschoolwhereyourchildattendsandmaketherequest.

Studentpulldownmenutoselectthestudentforwhomyouwishtoviewinformation.

2. UsetheMyAccountInfobuttontoaccessinformationaboutyourloginandemail.

3. Usethetabsalongtheleftsidetoverifystudentinformation,andviewitemssuchasthecalendar,gradebook,attendanceandsoon.SomeofthetabspicturedbelowarenotyetavailabletoLSSparents.

Calendar

Thecalendargivesyouanoptionofshowingthreetypesofinformation:� Absences/Tardies� GradebookAssignments&GradesEarned� CalendareventssuchasAdvisorydays,earlyreleasedaysanddayswithno

ClickCalendarDisplayforoptionsonthetypeofinformationyouwishtoshowonyourcalendar.IfyouhavemorethanonechildinLakelandSchoolSystem,youmaywishtosetdifferentcolorsforeachchildsoit’seasytotellwhoseassignmentsyouareviewing.

Youcanseefromthecalendarabovethatdailyassignmentswillshowupondatestheyweredueandabsentand/ortardymarksareincludedtoo.Clickonagradeorattendancemarktoviewmoreinformationaboutthatitem.

Whenteachersenterassignmentsintheirgradebookinadvanceoftheduedate,theassignmentandanydetailstheyhaveincludedinthegradebook,willbevisibleonyourcalendarsoyoucanhelpyourstudentstayontopofupcomingassignmentsandtests.Teachersareencouragedtoenterlargeassignmentsandtestsearlysoparentsandstudentscanplanforupcomingduedatesandtestdates.

Gradebook

Thegradebookwillshowcurrentassignmentinformationinreal-time.Columnshighlightedinyellowindicatethecurrenttermgrades.PleaseknowthatcurrenttermgradesarenotfinalizeduntilyouseethemprintedonareportcardinFamilyAccessafterthequarterorsemesterhasended.Gradesthathavebeenprintedonareportcardwillappearinboldfonttype.

Missingassignmentswillbehighlightedatthetop.

ClickDisplayOptionstoenabletheabilitytoseescoresforthefivemostrecentassignmentsineachclassinadditiontotermgrades.

Clickonatermgradetoviewtheassignmentsandscores.

Afterclickingthetermgrade,youwillseeaviewsimilartothis.Noticetheiconsforspecialcodesandcomments.Clicktheicontorevealmoreinformation.

HelpfulHint:Whenlookingatthegradebook,lookatcategoryheadingsandgradestoseewhereyourchildisdoingwellandwheretofocusonimprovement.Inthecaseabove,thestudentisdoingwellonassignments(A-)andtests(B),butisdoingpoorlyonlabs(D+)andquizzes(F).TheQuarter1gradeofB-isnotabadgrade,buttherearetwokeyareasthestudentcouldfocusoninordertoimprovehis/hergrade.

AttendanceClicktheAttendancetabtoviewattendanceforyourchildforthemarkingperiodand/oryear.

ClickPeriodintheupperrightcornertoviewachartofthenumberofperiodsyourchildhasmissedinthecurrentmarkingperiodandyear-to-date.

WhenlookingattheYear-to-DatetotalsforExcusedandUnexcusedabsences,thecountofdaysabsentisbasedonthenumberofperiodsonagivenday,thestudentmisses.Ifthestudentmissesbetweenoneandthreeperiodsoftheday,itwillcountasahalfday.Ifthestudentmissesfourormoreperiods,itisconsideredafullday.

StudentInformationThestudentinformationscreenwillshowgeneraldemographicandcontactinformationwehaveonfileaboutyouandyourstudent.Torequestchangestoanyoftheinformationonthisscreen,pleaseclickon“RequestChangesfor(yourstudent)”intheupperright-handcorner.Changesrequestedwillbereviewedbyschoolattendancestaffand,ifappropriate,willbeupdatedinyourchild’sSkywardaccount.
