From the Principal Our first week of school was a tremendous success! The students and staff were very eager and excited

to be back to school.

MAP testing will be held during the weeks of September 8th through September 30TH. Students in all

grades will be taking MAP assessments in the areas of reading and math. A parent letter regarding

information about MAP testing will be attached to the journal next week.

Please review the article from the Bloomingdale Police Department regarding several laws that are in

effect during school hours, on school property and in a school zone. The BPD has written tickets to

violators of these laws in the past. They want the public to be aware of these laws as “ignorance is no

excuse.”

Parents please be aware that the doors to the school are locked throughout the day and evening. Access to

the building is limited. If for some reason you and your child need access to the building after hours the

custodians have been instructed to check the front doors on the hour at 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 7:00 pm in

order to allow students, escorted by a parent, back into the building. Once the Park District basketball

program starts (October through March) the front doors of the school will be open from 6:00-9:00 pm but

the hallway gates will closed and locked. Custodians will be instructed to check the gates at the same times

listed above.

The Village of Bloomingdale has proclaimed September 3rd as “Go Orange Day” to help raise hunger

awareness and encourage the Bloomingdale community to make a difference by donating non-perishable

food items to local pantries. DuJardin School is participating in this drive and we hope you do too. See the

attached flyer regarding this special day. We will have a collection box at DuJardin School for these

items.

these types of foods from our school entirely however, there are areas of the building that are

designated as peanut and tree nut free. Please do not bring any food containing peanuts or tree

and the

staff at the Bloomingdale Police Department. We wish to welcome all the students back to a new

school year. We are looking forward to a successful and safe experience for all. A few quick

reminders and helpful hints to all parents and citizens driving through the school areas in town.

1 - Just a reminder about the prohibited use of cell... phones while in school zones. Illinois Vehicle

Code 625 ILCS 5/12-610.1(e)

"A person, regardless of age, may not use a wireless telephone at any time while operating a

motor vehicle on a roadway in a school zone."

2 - Be aware of the reduced speed in the school zones.

3 - While traveling on a divided four lane roadway (example Schick Road), a vehicle traveling in

the opposite direction of a school bus, is not required to stop when the school bus is stopped.

This includes the dropping or picking up of students. As always we expect the motoring public to

drive with caution and be mindful of children near the roadway.

* 4 - There has been a new stop sign placed on Schick Road at South Prairie Avenue. This is for

East / West Traffic on Schick Road.

The goal is to make this a safer intersection for all pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Any questions or concerns, please contact the Bloomingdale Police Department at (630) 529-

Thank You!
