Here’s a little bit about me…

• I’m already lucky enough to know almost all of you! Many of you, I’ve already had in my classroom!

• For those of you who do not already know me, my name is Ms. Haynes, and I’m originally from a small town in Kentucky, called Harlan.

• I graduated college from the University of Kentucky, and I still enjoy watching UK basketball!

What happens if you break a rule?

Does anyone remember what happened if you broke a rule last

year?

Page 11: Welcome to Fifth Grade! It’s going to be a great year!

If you break a rule, you will change your light.

• At the beginning of the day, everyone starts on GREEN! Everyone should try their best to stay on green!

• If you change your light, there are consequences. What could be some possible consequences?

Light Changes• Green – You have had a great day! You

followed all the rules!• Yellow – You broke a rule and will walk for 5

minutes of recess.• Orange – You broke two rules and will walk for

10 minutes of recess.• Red – You have had trouble following the rules

today or have done something very severe, like hitting or threatening another student. You will lose all of your recess and I will be calling home.

If your light is changed, it cannot be changed back!

But don’t worry, every day is a brand new day, and you will start again on green!

There are rewards for staying on green!

• Every other Friday, we will have a behavior celebration for students who have had green lights for two weeks!

• Every nine weeks, the school will have Crocodile Blowout Celebrations! With these Blowouts, you can not have any orange or red lights.

• We will also use Classroom Bingo! Some of you all should remember using this from your 4th grade classrooms.

Another very important thing to remember is to always show respect.

This will help you follow the rules and stay on

green!

• What does it mean to be respectful?

• Let’s make a list of all our thoughts!
