The Church of St. Luke is a Catholic Community, centered in Christ through baptism and formed by the Eucharist.
We strive to always be a community where every heart is touched by our Christian fellowship.

Today is a very special day for eleven of our youth who received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. First Communion
is considered one of the holiest and most important occasions in a Catholic person's life. They are Madelyn Friedrichs,
Brayden Galloway, Clare Gohmann, Melody Helget, Veronica Hoyt, Payton Kenning, Crosby Leither, William Schueller,
Arica Stach, Isabela Ventura and Ty Hauck. Please pray that they will see the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and
desire to receive Him each week at Sunday Mass. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless them abundantly.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I want to take a moment to say thank you to all of you who helped in any way with the Holy
Week Liturgies. There is always a danger in listing people, simply because someone may get left out and be hurt. I am grateful for every-
one who played any role, from those who do the same work each year, to those who were asked this year (even last minute) to help out.
The liturgies of the Triduum are always amazing for me, more so because I know the work behind the scenes that goes into making them
run smoothly. So please know I am thankful for all of you. I know we had many visitors come through our doors this past Holy Week,
thank you for making people feel welcome at St Luke's.
This weekend we have our young people receiving their first Eucharist at our 10:00am Mass. This also brings many visitors to our parish
as family and friends come to share the joy of our young people receiving Jesus in his Holy Body and Blood. Our young people have been
looking forward to this day for some time. I would ask that you keep them in your prayers that they may always keep the excitement
and thrill of receiving Jesus. I can still remember my own First Communion. I hope you can yours. This weekend try and renew your
own excitement and thrill. You are not coming forward to receive bread and wine, it is Jesus very Body and Blood, His gift to us.
This may be a good time to remind everyone that the Church is a 'Sacred place of worship'. We should be remembering as we come into
the church. We should be putting ourselves in a prayerful state. Many come early to Mass to spend time in prayer. Before the 10:00am
Mass the community prays the rosary. We should be respectful of those who are spending some quiet time in prayer before Mass. As
we enter this sacred place, we should remove any gum we may have been chewing (there are wastebaskets in the gathering area).
Please also remember that when you come forward to receive Him in his body and blood, receive Him reverently. We do not 'TAKE'
Jesus from the minister, we "RECEIVE" Him. Place your none dominant hand on top of your dominant hand, allow the Eucharistic min-
ister to present you the Host, say your "Amen" so they can hear you, then allow them to place the host in your hand. Then before you
move, pick up the host and put it into your mouth. You should consume the host right away, not go back to your pew first.
If you choose to receive the precious blood please make sure you are taking care when you are taking the Chalice and handing the Chal-
ice back. The precious Blood is a liquid and can too easily spill if you are not careful. This is not like spilling milk at your dinner table. It
is like blood dripping from the cross. Receive Him reverently and carefully.
Congratulations to our children who receive Him today for the first time.
Please join us this afternoon for the Divine Mercy service.
Fr Backer
Faith and Family
Today is a very special day for our youth who are making their
first Communion. As Catholics we believe that during the
Eucharistic prayer, at the consecration the ordinary bread and
wine that we bring to the altar become the body and Blood of our
Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is literally present
in the Holy Eucharist—body, blood, soul and divinity. We
believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist because
Jesus tells us this is true in Scripture “I am the bread of life. Your
fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the
bread, which comes down from heaven that a man may eat of it
and not die. I am the living bread, which came down from heaven;
if any one eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread,
which I shall give for the life of the world, is my flesh. The Jews
then disputed among themselves, saying, ‘How can this man give
us his flesh to eat?’ So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to
you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his
blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my
blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For
my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who
eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in
him” (John 6:48-56). This is the same body that was hanging on the
cross, the same blood that was poured there. This miracle of
God’s physical presence to us at every Mass is a witness of
Christ’s love for us and His longing for each of us to have a
personal relationship with Him.
the Eucharist comes strength to live the Christian life and zeal to
share that life with others."- St. John Paul II
