Mrs. Carr• I graduated from Washington State

University.• This is my 5th year teaching 1st

Valley and was a student in the Snoqualmie Valley School District.

• I love reading, the Seahawks, and college football!

Mrs. Carr• I am married to a great man and we have

a beautiful 1 ½ year old daughter, Addilyn, and a wonderful dog named Mosey.

What I Believe:

• Children rise to the standards we set for them, they learn through perseverance.

• The teacher/student and teacher/family relationship is critical to success! I value and cherish each and every relationship with every child.

• Movement and active learning is key- “Brain Breaks” and “Whole Brain Teaching.”

• Each child has a responsibility to respect the learning of the other children in the classroom.

• Learning is a continuous and developmental process, everyone moves at their own pace, especially in first grade!

• Hands-on activities and interactions are critical to young learners.

READING LOG: • 20 minutes of reading a day! Your

student can read, be read to, or read to you.

• Please record what was read each day, and for how long, and at the end of the week please sign the bottom of the reading log.

• Student reading time will be recorded and certain “markers” will be celebrated!

Homework:ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES: (Will Start Next Week)• Monday through Thursday students will

have a chance to complete an enrichment activity with their families. Please initial next to each activity that was completed.

• Enrichment activities and worksheets provide extra reinforcement for what is being taught in the classroom. Please do not feel pressure to complete every activity, every week.

Homework

Spelling

• Each week your child will have a spelling list of five Word Wall Words, plus five words that follow our spelling rule for the week.

• Practice at home is essential to our spelling program. They will have a spelling “check in” each Friday to demonstrate what they have learned.

Will Start Next Week!

• Each day, your student earns “Dojo” points for expected behavior, they can also loose these points for negative behavior.

• Our goal each day is 5 Dojo points. • When they earn 5 points, they earn a “Carr

Cash” dollar. They save these dollars to spend at the Class Store on Friday. They can also earn cash throughout the day for exceptional behavior!

• Please check Dojo reports to see how their day went, no news from me is good news!
