Membership Sign

• Identifies the team during performance

• Displays required information:– Team name–Membership number

• Readable from a distance• Visible for the whole performance• Not scored (unless as a Style category)• See the Program Guide for more details

Paperwork for the Tournament

• No, you can’t escape paperwork! • The Staging Area Judge will review

the forms with the team (not the coach )

• ONE Copy– Cost form– Team Specific Clarifications– Outside Assistance form

• FOUR Copies– Style Form– Team Required List

• Keep copies of everything in case you advance

Cost Form

• Lists the value of all items presented in the solution

• Could a team produce a similar solution for the same cost?

• See Program Guide for exempt items / assigned value items

Style Form• Judges use the team’s

Style Form as their score sheet

• The wording the team uses is important

• Describe each element• The required Style

elements MUST be on the Style form

• Free Choice elements must NOT already be scored by the Problem Judges (see Part D of problem)

The Required List

• Tells the Problem Judges what to look for• Not required (no penalty if missing), but

very helpful to the judges!• Look at the end of Part B in the problem

to find out what elements should be on the list

• The problem may also ask for other documentation

• The Required List Form is on the Membership Area

• There is no Required List in Problem 4

Outside Assistance Form

• Lists anyone who has contributed to the teams solution

• Outside assistance will result in a penalty

NO Outside Assistance, Please!

• ALL aspects of the solution, from ideas to finished product must be the work of team members ONLY

• This includes helping with costume, make up, etc

• The solution belongs to the kids, not to the parents or coach

The team solves the problem at their level, using what they know, what they can do and what they learn

OUTSIDEASSISTANCE

Coaches May:• Impose deadlines• Veto unsafe activities• Facilitate the team’s creative thinking• Record the team’s ideas• Primary / Div I coaches may fill out

paperwork with the team’s words

Coaches/Parents/Others May:• Present or teach a variety of

concepts, skills, techniques, methods to the team

• Provide transportation, snacks, and encouragement

• Stand back and enjoy what the kids can do!

Clarifications

• Not all teams need a clarification

• Before asking for clarification:– Read the whole problem again, especially the

rules that might apply to the team’s question– Check the public clarifications– Check the program guide– Check with your Problem Captain
