To inform about:

▪ The main risk at the shipyard

▪ How to act in case of emergencies

▪ The main houserules of Amels

This presentation is a summary of the Amels yard rules.

If you see an unsafe situation or if you doubt the safety in general,

report this immediately to your supervisor or the HSE officer of Amels.

Chapter 1: Main risks

It is important to know what you should pay attention to when you are on the premises.

Therefore, you will now see the main risks at Amels.

Fire hazardous work(welding, flame cutting, grinding)

▪ Ask permission by applying a hot work permit.

▪ Follow the instructions of the fire guard.

▪ Forbidden in these areas:

▪ Extraction is mandatory during welding activities.

Fire prevention

▪ Extinguishers must be easily accessible at all times.

▪ Smoking is only allowed in the designated areas

and only during break times.

▪ Do not leave flammable materials or waste

lying around.

▪ Check your work place before leaving,

for burning or smouldering objects.

Risk of falling or tripping

▪ Keep walkways free.

▪ Openings in the floor must be cordoned off

and fitted with boarding.

▪ Never make any changes to scaffolding yourself!This must be conducted by the scaffolder.

▪ Make sure you step on a stable floor. Pay particular attention to plastic,

loose planks, cardboard, etc. and spaces where work is being carried out.

Working with electricity

Only authorized persons are permitted

to switch on electricity on the yacht!

▪ Never work on cables that are under tension.

▪ Only authorised persons, conforming to the NEN 3140,

are allowed to work on the electrical installation.

▪ Cover the cable ends and tidy up electric cables.

Electric risks

▪ Take LOTO markings seriously (lock-out, tag-out).

▪ It is not permitted to use:

• non-industrial tools or equipment

• cable coils on board

• battery chargers on board

▪ Only use electric (hand)tools that have a valid verification

sticker (NEN3140).

Working with heavy machinery

▪ Only handle if you are older than 18, experienced and

after instruction.

▪ Follow the instructions for use of the machine.

▪ Safeguards of machines may not be bridged or removed.

▪ Make sure the work place is safe (space around the machine,

clean floor, lightning, extraction).

▪ Use suitable personal protection equipment (PPE).

▪ Report defects immediately to your supervisor.

Hoisting

▪ Only hoist when you are older than 18, experienced

and with a valid certificate.

▪ Do not walk under the load.

▪ Avoid falling load.

▪ When in doubt, stop the hoisting proces!

▪ Use only suitable tools and equipment.

▪ Use only certified and undamaged tools or equipment.

Cherry pickers and personnel carriers

▪ Only use when you are older than 18, experienced

and with a valid certificate.

▪ Be sure to strap yourself

in mobile working platforms.

▪ Do not use a cherry picker

for hoisting activities.

Forklift truck

▪ Only use a forklift truck when you are older than 18, experienced

and with a valid certificate.

▪ Pedestrians always have right of way.

▪ Seat belts or use of safety gate are mandatory.

▪ Drive at an appropriate speed. Inside that is step-by-step.

▪ Report defects immediately to your supervisor.

Enclosed spaces

▪ A permit is required.

▪ An enclosed space drawing is present at the stairway.

▪ Follow instructions of the fire guard.

▪ Ensure that the enclosed space is ventilated properly.

▪ Wear always a gas detector.

▪ Only use ‘safe’ voltage (50V alternate currentor 110V equal current).

Hazardous products

▪ Protect people and the environment against

harmful effects of hazardous substances.

▪ Follow specific instructions on the

material safety data sheets (MSDS).

▪ Store directly after use in a designated area.

▪ Never bring more hazardous products on board

than needed for 1 day.

▪ A work permit is required for painting and paint spray sessions.

Chapter 2: calamities

A dangerous situation may lead to damages or injuries.

The 3 main possible calamities at Amels are fire, injuries and evacuation.

Now these 3 calamities wil be further explained so you will know how to act.

First aid and AED

First aid

The First Aid helper offers first aid.

AED (automatic external defibrillator)

The AED is for resuscitation in case of a cardiac arrest.

We have 4 AED on different locations on the yard.

Fire, emergency or evacuation

1. Care about your own safety first.

2. Raise the alarm. Call: 0031 118 – 48 25 55 or 112

Tell them:

▪ Who you are

▪ The professional help required

▪ Explain the situation

▪ Your location

Always follow instructions of the first aid helpers

What further to do

3. Help victims, if possible and safe.

4. Prevent expansion of fire.Shut down machines and shut off gas supply.

5. Do you hear the emergency alarm...

Then go to the emergency exit as soon as possible.

6. Go directly to the assembly point. Wait, until you receive instructions from your supervisor.

Report incidents

▪ Stop working in case of eminent danger.

▪ Try to solve unsafe situations yourselfin order to protect your colleagues from accidents.

▪ If this is not possible, warn the people nearbyand cordon off the unsafe place.

▪ Report all unsafe situations and near accidentsto your supervisor.

Chapter 3: house rules

Amels is not only responsible for you safety, but also for your health and the environment.

You have also responsibilities for the environment, your own health and the well-being of others.

In the following sheets you will see the main house rules.

Your workplace

▪ Respect each other and each other’s work.

▪ Keep your workplace clean and tidy, even in between. Ensure that at the end of the working day the workplace is cleaned up.

▪ Take cordons and warning notices seriously andfollow the instruction.

▪ Remove gas cylinders from board after the work or at the end of the working day.

Gas and oxygen▪ Check in advance for:

✓ defects

✓ leaks

✓ correct annual colour code

✓ safety measures present

▪ Never leave burner and hoses behind in enclosed spaces.

▪ Disconnect hot work devices during each break or intermission.

▪ Only use oxygen to preserve the flame.

▪ Do not use painted hoses.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

▪ The use of PPE can vary with the situation, circumstances and activities.

▪ Required are:

✓ Recognizable workclothes in all production locations

✓ Hearing protection in noiseRule of thumb: speak with raised voice to be audible = noise

✓ Safety shoes in all production locations

✓ A properly working flashlight in case of power failure

✓ A life jacket when working nearby or above water.

▪ Use and maintain PPE in a correct and effective manner.

WasteWaste must be disposed of in the bins or drums that have been designated for that purpose.

There are bins available for the following wastes:

The fire guard…… maintains the safety regulations.

… checks working permits.

… can be recognized by an orange jumpsuit.

Purpose of the work permit = think together in advance about risks and control measures.

A work permit is required for:

▪ hot work

▪ enclosed space

▪ high presure >6bar

▪ painting/paint spray session

▪ gritblasting

▪ fuelling

Access and security

▪ Your personal access pass provides access to the premises.

▪ You should be able to show your ID card or passport on requestat all times.

▪ It is forbidden to have or use drugs or alcohol before or duringworking hours.

▪ Report the use of medication which might influence your work or the safety of other persons immediately to your supervisor or thecompany doctor.

Traffic regulations

▪ Only access with the car if you have an orange parking sticker.With a blue parking sticker you can park the car on the big parking

▪ Park bikes in the bicycle shed and cars on the parking space, at your own risk.

▪ The speed limit is 15 km/h.

▪ Cooperation is required for security checks.

Social media

Making pictures of yachts is prohibited.

Due to a very strict confidentiality agreement with the clients of Amels, it is not allowed to put any Amels related pictures, video’s, drawings and text on private Social Media Canals.

Our definition of Social Media Canals is the online platforms where you –the user – provide the content for. Examples are Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Wikipedia, LinkedIn, Xing, Flickr en YouTube.

Off course it is allowed to “share” the announcements that are made on theofficial Amels Social Media Canals.
