Mutual Selection • Process utilized during recruitment in which chapters
submit their preferences while potential new members (PNMs) submit their preferences as well.
Submitting Preferences • Called “preffing” for short. • Process in which PNMs submit a list of their favorite
options via computer. • Occurs at the end of each round of recruitment.
Recruitment Format • 13-10-7-3 • First round: PNMs attend all 13 chapters • Second round: PNMs attend a maximum of 10
chapters • Third round: PNMs attend a maximum of 7 chapters • Fourth round: PNMs attend a maximum of 3 chapters
Recruitment Format • First round: Wednesday and Thursday • Second round: Friday • Third round: Saturday • Fourth round: Sunday
Preffing • First round: Pref Thursday evening • Second round: Pref Friday evening • Third round: Pref Saturday evening • Fourth round: Pref Sunday evening

Recruitment 2014 • 843 women participated • 87.43% were offered bids to join a sorority
• 12% did not complete the process • 39 women out of 843 were completely released • 91% received a bid from their first choice sorority
MRABA Contract (Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement)
• Sunday (pref) night PNMs asked to sign MRABA. • Promises to accept a bid from one of the (up to) three
chapters she lists. • If she lists all of her possible options on the contract,
she is guaranteed a bid from one of those sororities.

• If she signs the contract, but does not accept a bid from one of the chapters she lists, she cannot participate in recruitment until Fall 2016.
Intentional Single Preference • If she does not sign the contract or does not list all of
her options and does not receive a bid, she is eligible to participate in Continuous Open Recruitment (COR) immediately.
• If the PNM is 100% certain she would not accept a bid from a chapter, she should not list it on her MRABA.
• If a PNM ISPs, she is not guaranteed a bid on Monday.
Continuous Open Bidding • Occurs based on chapter totals.
• If chapters are below average chapter size, they can participate in COB.
• Not every chapter will participate.
• It is not required for chapters below chapter total to participate.
Recruitment Week • PNMs line up alphabetically.
• Chapter members will sing as the
doors open.
• PNMs shake members’ hands.
• May talk to multiple chapter members.
• Exits while chapters sing.

• Friday: House Tour/Philanthropy Round
• Saturday: Skit Round
• Sunday: Preference Round
• Monday: Bid Day
Hazing Policy • Hazing in any form is strictly prohibited.
• Defined as: “Any activity that recklessly or intentionally endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student.”

Alcohol Policy • Panhellenic Council policy forbids alcohol possession or consumption on chapter
premises.
• Chapter funds may not purchase alcohol.
• Active members may not purchase or serve alcohol to anyone under 21 years of age.
• All recruitment and new member events must be alcohol free.

Recruitment fees • $100 registration fee • $150 early arrival fee
• $85 meal plan fee
• 5 lunches, 4 dinners
• Breakfast is not included.
• These will be automatically charged to PNM’s bursar account.
Financial Obligations • In-house obligations
• Figures vary from $3,019 to $9,176 per year
• Out-of-house obligations
• Vary between $1,249 to $2,712 per year
• These will be further discussed on Bid Day.
Breaking Res Life Contracts • Tanya Massey, Assistant Director of Housing and
Residential Life • Limited spaces available in sorority housing
• If on Bid Day a woman is offered a space in-house, she will need to break her housing contract that day. • Iba Hall open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Bid Day
• Housing deposit refunded to bursar account
