We want to thank everyone at the Lodge for the flowers, kind comments, and full support as we laid our Mothers to rest. Welcome Lodge has been a true blessing. In particular, I would like to thank Bro. Ed and Pat Kaczynski, and Bro. Jim Withycombe for making the trip down to Taft to attend the funerals. I also want to thank WB Hermie Valdeabella, WB Mel Perez, and Bro. Ed for making sure that I had nothing to worry about during my absence. Thank you Brothers. Freemasonry creates a bond between men. It is evident at the Lodge during our meetings from the love and respect displayed from one Brother to another. It is felt in our hearts and present in our minds as we remember those Brothers that can no longer attend the Lodge. And it is displayed in our thoughts, prayers, and actions when our Brethren are pulled from their earthly toils to bask in the glory of our Great Creator. In February, we mourned the passing, and celebrated the life of Brother Edwin Tyre Tates. Brother Edwin, his bride Samara, and their three beautiful children brightened our halls on many occasions with their smiles and youthful vitality. He will be greatly missed and we send all of our blessings to our Sister and Edwin’s family as they cope with this tragic loss. Please keep them in your prayers. March is always a great month for new beginnings. With that, let us really kick 2018 into gear and make it a memorable year. See you about the Lodge! Fraternally, Jack W. Brethren,

Many of you may know that Tonya and I have had a particularly tough month with both of our Mothers passing within a few weeks of each other. We want to thank everyone at the Lodge for the flowers, kind comments, and full support as we laid our Mothers to rest. Welcome Lodge has been a true blessing.

From the South Brother Edwin Kaczynski

Greetings from the West!

Well brothers, February was a difficult month for all of us, some more than

others. I’m proud of everyone for coming together the way we have. It’s easy

to share in good times, or to put on a happy smile when all is right in the

world. Those smiles become much more difficult in times of adversity and

tragedy but there you all were, smiling and lifting each other up and

personally, words fail to describe just what that means.

Being in my line of work, I am faced with tragedy on an almost daily basis. It

can beat a man to his knees easily but thanks to the lessons we receive in our

degrees, I have been fortunate to be able to stand tall because I have brothers

who have helped me to do so. The efforts we exert in the promotion of

brotherly love and relief have never ceased to amaze me and you are all

evidence of that.

There are still rough times ahead, there is tragedy everywhere we look but so

long as we keep our hearts and minds on the important lessons we have

learned, we will come through everything joyous and triumphant.

To those that have loved and lost, my heart has broken for you, my eyes have

cried for you, and I am here for you. Any time. Anywhere. Always.

Fraternally yours,

Mel Perez, PM

Senior Warden

Congratulations!

NOTES FROM OUR BROTHERS WB JACK CLOUD

In the Last Trestle Board, I asked our Brothers who can no longer attend Lodge to let us know how they were doing. Three of them responded and took me up on that offer. I’m grateful to hear from them. As Master, one of my desires is to bring as many of our Brothers back into the fold as possible. Maybe not in attendance, but that we might know how they are doing

and they might know that we think of them. Please, take a few moments to let us know how you are doing and I will be happy to pass your message along to the Brothers.

Last month Brother Audie Musngi emailed to let us know that he is living in Murrieta, CA around family. Since he’s several

hours from Lemoore, he passes his best to his Brothers in Lemoore and hopes to get down here again soon. Brother Dan Britton emailed from the Pacific Northwest, around the Whidbey area I believe, and wanted me to tell everyone hello and that he is doing well. Finally, Brother Bill Praetz emailed to let me know that he and his lovely bride, Edna live in Fresno. As part of Coalinga Lodge 387, he was part of the CHP Traveling Degree team during the 1970’s. In fact, through Bill, we also heard from

WB Gene Rubey, a member of Hanford Lodge, and Master of Coalinga in 1977. He was also part of the CHP Traveling Degree Team.

Brothers, thank you for keeping in touch!!!

In Loving Memory

Brother Edwin T. Tates

Our brother has been raised in that blissful Lodge which no time can close, but which will remain open

during the boundless ages of eternity. In that Heavenly Sanctuary, the Mystic Light, unmingled with

darkness, will reign unbroken and perpetual. There, under the protection of the All-Seeing Eye, amid the

smiles of Immutable Love, in that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, -- There, my

brethren, may Almighty God in His infinite mercy, grant that we may meet again, to part no more.

We shall ever cherish in our hearts the memory of our departed brother and, commending his spirit to

Almighty God, we trustingly leave him in the hands of that Beneficent Being who has done all things well;

who is glorious in His Holiness, wondrous in His Power, and boundless in His Goodness; and it should

always be our endeavor so to live that we too may be found worthy to inherit the kingdom prepared for us

from the foundation of the world.

INSPECTORS The role of the Inspector in the Grand Lodge of California was established upon the recommendation of Grand Master Leonidas E. Pratt at the Annual Communication in 1970, when he proposed that the jurisdiction be divided into fourteen districts, with a Deputy Lecturer selected for each District. He suggested that the Deputy Lecturers might properly be called Inspectors. It is from this early beginning that our Inspectoral Corps and its system of assistance to the Lodges has grown in both numbers and responsibility. Originally the responsibility of the Inspector was designated as solely ritualistic but, as the years rolled by new duties and responsibilities have been added. Today the Inspector is involved in broader phases of Masonry with the Lodges of his District. Through this evolution of responsibility, he has become counselor, teacher, conciliator, diplomat and salesman and through his efforts in these capacities, has the opportunity to further the cause, strength and influence of Masonry.
