Gree ngs,
I am deeply honored and humbled to have been elected to serve as Master of
Venice Lodge no. 301. Thank you for having the confidence in me to lead our lodge
for the ensuing year.
I also want to take this opportunity to say thank you to each and every one of
you, whom, over the years have taken the me to mentor, guide and instruct me on
all things Masonic. I could not be this well prepared to sit in the East if it we not for
each and every one of you. Thank You!
I would also like to thank our outgoing W:.M:. Derek J. Lynn and his Officers
for all their hard work and dedica on. Thank You Brothers! A job well done!
My vision for this year is to con nue the excellence in our ritual and degree
work, making new masons, fun, fellowship, and our charity ini a ves. In addi on, I
am planning on hos ng a couple of raffles where the proceeds will go to a limited
number of local chari es.
I have heard from many Brothers who would like the lodge to do more com‐
munity outreach; which we will be doing. I have plans to create addi onal fund‐
raisers this year so we can try to make our lodge more financially sound. The lodge
will be open every Monday on our non‐mee ng nights 2nd and 4th Mondays as we
will be having ritual prac ce. I feel this will much improve our work.
I‘m very excited to work side by side with my line of Officers and the Brothers
of Venice Lodge No. 301 in 2016. I hope some of the Brothers who haven't been to
lodge recently will come out and join us for what I believe will be a very exci ng
year. I am asking every brother to call a Brother who they haven't seen in lodge for a
while to invite him to come join us for some great fellowship.
Fraternally,
W:.M:. Mark R. Bal more

Brethren,
First, I wish you and your families a Happy, Healthy and Blessed 2016! I
hope everyone has had a great Holiday season to date. Second, I want to thank
all of my brothers for elec ng me to serve as your Senior Warden this year. It is a
great honor and privilege for me and I am looking forward to working with you
this year.
We have a great lineup of Officers again this year and I look forward to
working with all of them. We’re hoping to put on a Fellow Cra Degree some me
in March and I look forward to si ng in the East for that degree. I also hope to
bring more new Masons into our Lodge this year. This is something we can all
contribute to just by being ourselves and good Masons as we interact with peo‐
ple throughout our community. While the admission of new members is im‐
portant, I am very cognizant of our Masons and their Ladies who have been faith‐
ful members of our Lodge for many years. I con nue to look forward to your
knowledge, input and fellowship. I also encourage those members who have not
been to a Lodge mee ng in a while to please join us for some great camaraderie
and fellowship.
Last but not least, our 2016 Installa on of Officers will be held at the Lodge
on Saturday, January 2nd at 7:00 pm. Don’t miss the dinner at 5:30 pm which will
be prepared by our gourmet chef, Debra Sims. Let’s get this year off to a great
start by joining W:. M:. Mark Bal more for his dinner and Installa on!
Our next Stated Communica on will be held at the Lodge on Monday, Jan‐
uary 4, 2016, star ng at 7:30 pm. Let’s start the year off with a great turnout on
the sidelines!
Fraternally,
Sco D. Steelman, Senior Warden

Masonic Titles
When should masonic tles be used?
Titles should always be used in lodge, lodge func ons, or really any
me, place or situa on that carries with it a masonic context for it is a
sign of respect and to not use them is a sign of disrespect.
Titles should never be used when in the presence of the profane
(non‐masons) outside a masonic context. This is to say, when you are in a
lodge building, at a lodge func on, or any other clearly masonic gathering,
tles are almost always appropriate regardless of who might be around.
However when there is no masonic context and it's just you and a
few guys + a non‐mason out in public, tles must never be used. This is for
the simple fact that the non‐mason standing there may not be aware that
one or all of you are freemasons. Perhaps it does not ma er to you but it
may ma er to the person your standing next to and you are bound to re‐
spect that fact.
When in doubt, the tle "Sir" is always respec ul and nondescript.

Brethren:
Sales of the Florida Masonic Tag have, to date, been less than the State requires in order to continue offering a specialty tag. Please support the effort to raise much needed funds for the Masonic Home by purchasing a Florida Masonic Li-cense Tag when it is time to renew. It is only an extra $25.00! Choosing the Ma-sonic Tag will ensure this tag remains available for us to show our support of the Craft as well as the Masonic Home.
