Types of Comprehension Questions Give them puzzles. If Joe has two more apples would he have enough for the whole family? Ask literal questions. If Joe came out of the kitchen, who is left in the kitchen? Can they predict what happens next? Why did Joe walk out of the kitchen. Can they imagine alternative stories? What if Joe could walk through walls. Can they summarise a story? Look for patterns and connections, ask about likes and dislikes.

If children understand what they are reading this will help them enjoy it more!
