Important Information• A word from Dr. Smith, Clear Creek ISD Superintendent

• Rising 9th grade students will attend the school they are zoned to based on the 2019-2020 school boundary change. This boundary change will be approved on February 25. Visit www.ccisd.net/sbac to review high school proposed boundary changes.

• Rising 10th , 11th , 12th grade students will remain at the same high school they attend today and will not be moved to a new high school. Transportation will be provided.

Schedule: High schools offer 7 classes a day.

Credits: • Each semester course passed with a

grade of 70 or higher equals 0.5 credit.

• In one semester, a student may earn up to 3.5 credits (7 semester classes).

• Year-long courses may average for credit at the end of the second semester.

1. Complete all course requirements for the Foundation High School Program (FHSP):

• Foundation High School Program + Endorsement (26 credits)

• Foundation High School Program (22 credits)

*Parent approval required. Considered after student completes his/her sophomore year.

2. Pass all State Assessments (STAAR exams):• English I

Foundation High School Program + Endorsement Distinguished Level of Achievement (DLA)

(26 Credits)

• Complete all graduation requirements for the FHSP + Endorsement,

including Algebra II as a math credit.

• STAAR EOC – Approaches Grade Level or above is required in each

subject area exam: • English I

• US History

• DLA is a requirement for automatic admissions to a 4-year Texas public

college/university for students in the Top 10% (varies for UT Austin).

What is an Endorsement?

• Endorsements are broad career readiness focus areas that comprise hundreds of potential career pathways for students. Endorsements encourage students to concentrate on career options and think about their education as a pathway toward individual goals.

• Students may complete more than one endorsement if desired, and they may change endorsements at any time prior to graduation.

Important Course Registration Reminders

• Choose courses carefully. Schedule changes at the high school level are for data entry mistakes or course errors only.

• Course Registration Verification Letters will be delivered to students in April. Changes to requests will be accepted until May 3, 2019.

• Schedules will be created to match requests as much as possible.

• Course selection cards are due back to your intermediate campus by February 20, 2019.

GPA and Class Rank

• High School GPA (Grade Point Average) begins with

coursework in the 9th grade year.

• CCISD’s GPA scale is a weighted 5.0 scale with

additional points for more rigorous classes.

(Level 1 – Advanced Academic, PreAP/GT, and

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses)

• GPA is calculated by semester (twice a year).

• GPA is used to determine class rank.

• College admission requirements may be greater than FHSP

graduation requirements and will vary from college to college.

• Review college admission requirements early and often to

ensure high school coursework meets expected standard of a

college/university.

• College admission officers will review a student’s transcript for

rigor and course selection during all four years of high school.

• GPA/Class Rank are may be an admission criteria at a

college/university.
