The purpose of the Freshman Academy is to ensure that freshman transition to high school is one that is successful and prepares student to be college and career ready.

Attendance
It is the philosophy of Santaluces High School that attendance is important to the learning of all students. Statistics show that students who are in
attendance have a higher success rate.
• Students are obligated to punctual and regular attendance• An absence must be explained (if a parent of the child knows
of the absence, failure to make such a report and explanation shall be evidence of the child’s being absent with the consent or connivance of the parent)
• Upon returning to school from an absence students will to the Main Office between 7:00 a.m. and 7:20 a.m.
• The student must present a note from a parent or legal guardian explaining the absence to the administrator or designee.
2019-2020 Dress Code
All students are expected to report on the first day of school in dress code. Any student out of compliance will be asked to change and will be subject to
disciplinary action.
• A student’s body must be covered from shoulder to kneecap, including chest, back and sides, while standing or sitting, with no visible undergarments.
• If a medical or religious reason prevents a student from adhering to the dress code policy, the student should notify an administrator before attending class.
What is NOT acceptable?• Any item worn that contains a lewd, offensive, obscene, racist, sexist or rude saying,
picture or slogan that promotes or denotes alcohol, drug use or gang affiliation. Under garments may not be seen either through, above or around clothing. Sleeveless, tank tops, jerseys, spaghetti strap shirts, halter tops, see through or sheer, off the shoulder, cropped tops, strapless or backless tops or dresses. Exposure of midriff, back, sides or cleavage. T-shirts or polo shirts with cut-off sleeves are not allowed. Wearing a jacket or other outerwear over inappropriate tops is not acceptable.
• Pants, shorts or skirts may not sag and must be fitted at the natural waistline so they will not fall down. Under garments may not be seen through, above or around clothing.
• Pajamas, lounge pants, yoga pants, jeggings, or leggings are not to be worn to school. Clothing with rips, tears, frays, or holes are not to be worn. Skin tight clothing is prohibited
• Slippers, cleats, shoes with abrasive soles or stiletto heels. Bare feet.• Hats, hoods, bandanas, athletic headbands or any type of head covering.
Sunglasses worn indoors or behind the head. Cell phones, visible ear plugs, picks, combs, hair rollers or curlers in hair, dangling belts. Chains of any type. Jewelry or clothing which may pose a safety hazard
