President’s Message: by Terri Leichtweis
The New Year is upon us and has once again brought big changes to some of us. As most of you know I recently moved back to Colorado and I am working for Jefferson County Public Health. I grew up in Lake-wood and I am very familiar with the county. I am now closer to my family which has been a nice change, and no I don’t miss the wind. I plan on finishing out my term as WEHA President and will stay on as Past-President when the time comes. I am still very involved in the planning of the AEC and with my other as-sociation duties, so please do not hesitate to call or email me with questions or concerns.
Our 2013 AEC went great even though we had some last minute speaker issues. I hope everyone en-
joyed themselves. The whole committee did a great job of adapting to the changes we had to make. It
was a little stressful for a while. We had to change the format of our Wednesday lunch/meetings, but I
think that it worked better for us, so I think we are going to set it up that way again. We started working on
our AEC plans for this year and there have been a few bumps already but they seem to be smoothing
themselves out. We will be having the 2014 AEC in Lander at the Best Western on September 9-11. If
you have any ideas or suggestions for speakers please contact Linda so that she can try and schedule
them. I hope everyone has a great year and I look forward to seeing you in September.
A Note from the Editorial Team

Also, we included some pictures from the 2013 AEC that was held in Teton Village just outside of Jackson Hole. We hope you en-joy the newsletter!
**REMEMBER if you have any fun stories or great pictures that you have acquired on any inspections or even would

NEHA Membership
NEHA is happy to announce that membership numbers were positive again last year. Member-ship increased by 85 members between February 2013 and February 2014. Membership increases remain hard fought in this time of economic difficul-ty and especially for the public sector where most of NEHA membership is derived.
Region 3 has added nine members over the past year and Colorado is responsible for five of those members, with Montana, Utah, Wyoming and Nige-ria adding one each.
Region 3 currently has 369 members and NEHA has 4823.
Future AEC’s include:

the other. Please take the time to review both for-mats so you will know which format suits you best.
I hope to see many of you this summer in Vegas Baby!!!
