Are you SCARED of your past and the way you were living your life?
A.I.P & GP Outreach is here to help you
find the courage you’ll need to overcome your
addiction and criminality.
It’s time for a change. *Sign up for GP outreach and get a taste of what A.I.P.
can do for you
Be on the look out for the next round of G.P. Outreach Sign Up Sheets on your unit. If you miss the Sign Up Sheet please send a
communication to Mr. Washington to be added to the list.
Here’s what a G.P. Committee member has to say
I’m a convict. I’m an addict. I’m a liar and I’m a thief. I would steal from you
or from anyone, even from my own family. I’d take from them because they always
forgave me. I know this would hurt them, but I didn’t care. I didn’t care about
anyone or anything. This was my justification; my Core Belief. I lived by this
motto because I thought it gave me strength.
I’m currently serving my 4th year on a 5-year prison set. Somewhere along the
way I began to question that Core Belief. How had it served me? I victimized
people constantly. I forced my friends and family to live every moment of my
addiction, and later my prison set, with me. I left a daughter out there who has never
had her father to tuck her in at night or has never had her father at one of her
birthdays. She’s now 15 years old, her name’s Aleesia and she’s beautiful. That is
what the belief “I don’t care” has done for me. After a few years into my
incarceration, I began to change. I left O.S.P. for South Fork and fought fires out
there for 3 years. I was working out, staying in shape, and waiting for my A.I.P.
window to open. Once I finally had the chance to enter the A.I.P. program, I did so
mainly for the time cut because I had already changed, right? Wrong. The changes
I made were on the surface. My thinking, emotions and beliefs were still
unchanged. I still victimized and deceived. The person I claimed to be and the
actions I took were not the same. I had been lying to myself, longing to change, but
lacked the tools for the job. After 120 days in the program, I can say I’m not a convict. I’m a father. I’m
not a junkie, liar, or a thief, but rather a role model and a friend. I’m choosing to be
these things each day, and I finally know what it means to embrace change. I’m
going home to hopefully reconnect with my daughter.
As it turns out, I’m only saving two weeks doing this program. However,
knowing what I know now, with everything I’ve gained from this program, I can
honestly say that even if I was losing time by doing A.I.P., I’d still enter this
program in a heartbeat. I’m leaving, yes, but what truly matters is that I’m leaving
as a better man.
