Are you finally ready to

use your voice?

With the help of G.P Outreach and the

A.I.P. Program, You can find that

voice!

Be on the look out for the next round of G.P. Outreach Sign Up Sheets on your unit. If you miss the Sign Up Sheet please send a

communication to Mr. Washington to be added to the list.

Here’s what a G.P. Committee member has to say

I’m tired. I’m tired of living the selfish, angry, uncaring life that I have chosen

to live for the majority of it. I’m 38 years old and this is my 3rd

time in prison. I

was adopted at 6 months of age and have never really felt like I belonged anywhere

or to anyone. I haven’t had any contact with my adopted family since my last trip

to DOC in 2006.

I have been a practicing alcoholic since I was 15, and it has cost me my

family, my freedom, and countless dollars. It has taken my self-respect as well as

most of my life. It has been a continuous blur of drugs, alcohol, and violence. I

have walked through and destroyed so many lives with little regard to those I was

hurting. I am the father of four children, only one of whom I have had contact with.

I have never felt as low or as broken as I have this time.

I am blessed and thankful for the opportunity to attend the PRCF New

Directions Program. With the help of the NDN staff as well as my fellow peers I

have already started the process of healing. I enjoy living in a “therapeutic

community” and I see the benefits of it everyday. From the camaraderie of playing

sports together or when I’m feeling down, just being uplifted by a fellow brother. It

all makes sense and is a lot of fun as well.

When have we ever had an opportunity to spend an entire six months able to

work on ourselves? I never have. I am taking advantage of it. My desire is to leave

this place a much better man, father, partner and friend than the person who walked

in. That is what the AIP program offers us. My son’s mother tells me that she can

tell there is a difference already even in just the way I speak. They are looking

forward to my coming home and I too, am proud of the work I am doing here.

Taking the knowledge and the skills and applying them to daily life and myself so

that I never again have to return to DOC.

Mr. Justin Wilsey
