Their first day was a great success and we hope they enjoyed their first taste of school. Peanut Allergy - Anaphylaxis One of our new Kinders for next year has a severe allergy to peanuts and cannot under any circumstances come into contact with peanuts without having a severe allergic reaction. This is a very serious situation and we need the whole school to understand and support the school by not bringing anything to school that contains nuts, this includes peanut butter, or any snack food that may contain peanuts or other nuts. Duri School must become a Peanut Free School as of NOW. Coles Sports for Schools Promotion Duri Public School would like to thank all those people in the community who saved their Coles Sports for Schools Vouchers for our school. We now have 36,000 vouchers. November P & C Meeting Ms Dufty (School Education Director) will be attending our school P & C Meeting on Wednesday, 10th November at 7.00 pm to discuss the Principal situation for next year. SRC Melbourne Cup Activities Yesterday we all enjoyed some great Melbourne Cup festivities, with our lunch, hat parade and snail race. We had some beautiful Melbourne Cup hats. Congratulations to Claire Brown who won the snail race with her pet snail “Malucky Day”. There will be some photos in next week’s newsletter. The SRC made $28.90 from the day after expenses.

Kinder Orientation Days

Craft Groups - Helpers Needed

We are having our craft groups on Monday, 29th and Tuesday, 30th November and on Monday, 6th and Tuesday, 7th December commencing at 1.30 pm. Craft groups are always fun and give the students the opportunity to make items that they wouldn’t normally make in the classroom. To make these groups the most effective we need your expertise! We know you have skills that would be great to pass on to the students. The school will provide materials or we may ask for a small fee from students to cover costs. Activities could include needlework, pottery, knitting, decoupage, string art, woodwork, cooking or anything else you are interested in. Social Tennis At Duri Courts - Friday nights

Friday night tennis has commenced at the Duri Tennis Courts. Come and enjoy a great night of social tennis. For any enquiries please contact Ruth or Kevin Haskins on 67680018.

Tennis Championships

Games for the school tennis championships begin this Friday, 5th November and will continue on Friday, 12th November as well. Mrs Cohen will run the tennis championships on both days. Good luck to all the those children taking part.

Duri Carols

Carols at the Anglican Church in Duri will be held on Friday, 10th December. More details in future newsletters.

School Disco - date changed

The school disco will now be held on Friday, 26th November from 6.00 - 8.00 pm in the school grounds.

NEEDED - Cakes for next Wednesday

The Captains will be going to Coles and Bi-Lo supermarkets on Wednesday, 10th

November to thank the staff for organising vouchers for our school. We will be thanking the 30 staff members by providing a morning tea of home-cooked cakes and slices and your assistance is needed. If you can help out, please leave any cooking at school on Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning. Thank you.
