has been translated into more than a hundred languages and published

Of the things we think, say or do ...

Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Notes from our 03-13-13 Meeting: ROTARY NOTARY: 03-13-13

Welcome: With the meek ringing of a bicycle bell (the real bell having been stolen by the usual suspects) President O’Linda welcomed all Rotarians and guests to the Most Irish Club on Earth. Guests: Rotary Free Agents Gerald Odor and Kristine Cassidy were present again. Negotiating for prime Rotarians like these may mean forfeiting several future draft picks or Bill Highland.

Announcements: Cindy S invited members to join with her by attending the District 5180 Assembly on March 23rd. Rotarians learn about many projects and aspects of Rotary Clubs.

Jim B challenged the club members to contribute $100 to Rotary International Foundation. A fierce bidding war ensued with Ken “the Coercer” Anderson claiming 100% team participation.

Bob S, with iPhone in hand, announced the new Pope was Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a.k.a “Francis”. Thanks Bob, obviously “there’s an app for that”.

Ken A, looking sharp in green, invited fellow Irishman, Ardie O’Gee to help him lead “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”.

This just in… Darnell R arrived late (no fan of corned beef apparently) but just in time for cake.

Fines and Bell Ringers: Fine Master Adams was absent, rumored auditioning for “L.A. Law”.

Program: The experts from Sutter County Health Department, Carrie Ozeran and Ericka Lansdon Summers presented interesting and disturbing facts about our community health. Both Carrie and Ericka have earned Master of Public Health degrees. Their mission is to address and reduce the chronic diseases that plague our citizens. Two culprits are breathing and eating, more specifically inhaling tobacco and swallowing too much fatty-food. Using their skills to focus on prevention, they are promoting smoke-free businesses and parks. Sadly, cigarette sales to under-age youth in Sutter County are twice the state rate. Culprits are the “cigarette-only stores” that rarely verify age. On a brighter note, each Rotarian was given a packet that included several solutions to health problems afflicting our county. Follow-up DVD and other resources can be found at Sutter County Public Health.

Notable and Quotable: “Sutter County has the highest density of fast-food outlets in the state.”

Thanks for the tune, fella’s ... Ardie O’Gee and Ken McAnderson ... “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling”
