NEW DELHI, July 21: CBI today informed a spe- cial court that “despite reminders”, no decision has been taken yet by the compe- tent authority on the issue of grant of sanction to prosecute two public servants for their alleged involvement in two separate cases in the coal block allocation scam. The agency informed Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar that in accordance with the court’s earlier order, it sent the entire relevant records of the case, along with state- ments of witnesses, to the com- petent authority way back in February but no decision has been taken on the issue. The two public servants against whom sanction is awaited are — K S Kropha, then Joint Secretary in Coal Ministry, and K C Samaria, then director in Coal Allocation section of the ministry. “It has been submitted (by CBI) that despite reminder, no decision on the said request for considering according of sanc- tion has been taken by the com- petent authority,” the court noted. During the hearing, CBI said that as over five months have elapsed since records were sent to the competent authority, it should be deemed that sanction has been granted. “Senior public prosecutor says as the period of five months have elapsed since the records were sent to competent authority for according of sanc- tion, so this court should con- clude that the sanction for pros- ecution of public servants, as asked for, is deemed to have been granted,” the judge said and fixed the matter for consid- eration tomorrow. CBI also filed final report of its further investigation car- ried out in both the cases. No OROP for paramilitary forces: Govt NEW DELHI, July 21: Government today said it is not formulating any policy for implementing ‘One Rank One Pension Scheme’ for paramilitary forces. The principle of OROP for the Armed Forces has been accept- ed by the Government, Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh said in a written reply in Rajya Sabha. He added that the modalities for implementation were dis- cussed with various stakeholders and are presently under consider- ation of the Government. It will be implemented once the modalities are approved by the Government, he said. On a question whether the Government is formulating any pol- icy for implementing this scheme for paramilitary forces also, he said, “No”. The reply comes in the backdrop of the ongoing agitation by the ex-servicemen community seeking implementation of the long-pending OROP. No OROP forparamilitary forces: Govt

NEW DELHI, July 21:

Government today said it is not formulating any policy forimplementing ‘One Rank One Pension Scheme’ for paramilitaryforces.
