Its eastern end continues to run along its near normal position dipping into North Bay of Bengal. ♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal in the middle and upper tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. It is likely to move west-northwestwards along the monsoon trough during the subsequent 2-3 days. ♦ An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast. Significant Weather Features

♦ The western end of monsoon trough at mean sea level runs north of its normal position and is likely to remain to the north of the normal position during next 2 days and shift southwards subsequently. Its eastern end continues to run along its near normal position dipping into North Bay of Bengal.

♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Bay of Bengal in the middle and upper tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours. It is likely to move west-northwestwards along the monsoon trough during the subsequent 2-3 days.

♦ An off-shore trough at mean sea level runs from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast. It is likely to persist during next 2-3 days.

Under the influence of above systems:

i) Intensity of the rainfall over northwest India likely to reduce further after 24-hours. Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Western Himalayan Region (Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) and adjoining northwest India (Punjab and Uttar Pradesh) today 21st with further reduction thereafter. It is likely to increase from 25th July.

ii) Light to Moderate rainfall at scattered places very likely over Delhi during next 24 hours.

iii) Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely to continue over west coast and adjoining interior areas and Gujarat region during next 4-5 days. iv) Fairly Widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls likely over east and adjoining central India during 21st -24th July. Isolated extremely heavy falls also likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on 21st -22nd July and over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh on 22nd 2021.

♦ Moderate to Severe thunderstorm with lightning very likely at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh during next 24 hours.

♦ Maximum Temperature Departures as on 20-07-2021: Maximum temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1°C or more ) at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Chhattisgarh; above normal (1.6°C to 3.1°C) at most places over Kerala & Mahe; at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Odisha and at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura and Gangetic West Bengal. ♦ Minimum Temperature Departures as on 21-07-2021: Minimum temperatures are above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over East Rajasthan; at a few places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh. They are below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at most places over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi; at many places over Punjab; at a few places over Telangana, Coastal Karnataka and Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 19.0°C is reported at Seoni (East Madhya Pradesh) over the plains of the country.

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 0830 hours IST)

♦The Monsoon Trough at mean sea level now passes through Amritsar, Karnal, Aligarh, Sultanpur, Jamshedpur, Chandbali and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.

♦ The off-shore trough at mean sea level now runs from south Gujarat coast to Karnataka coast.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over West Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood now lies over East Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood and extends upto 3.1 km above mean sea level.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh & neighbourhood now lies over West Bengal & adjoining Bangladesh at 1.5 km above mean sea level.

♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over central Assam & neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level.

♦ The Western Disturbance as a trough in mid & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level now runs roughly along Long. 66°E to the north of Lat. 28°N.

♦ A cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood and extends between 3.1 km & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. Under its influence, a Low Pressure Area is very likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood during next 48 hours.

♦ The east-west shear zone roughly along Lat.18°N between 4.5 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height has become less marked.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat region & neighbourhood at 3.6 km above mean sea level has become less marked.

♦ The cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan & neighbourhood extending upto 2.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked.
