Weddings & Civil Partnerships
The RIBA award winning Siobhan Davies Studios, nestled just beyond
London’s busy South Bank, provides the perfect venue for a wedding
ceremony and/or reception, as it is both utterly unique and completely
adaptable to your personal vision and style.
Siobhan Davies Studios is a contemporary arts space housed in a
converted Victorian school, creating an unusual balance between old
and new design that makes it very versatile for any personal
atmosphere or style you may wish to achieve. Helpful front of house
staff will be available to liaise with your event planner and assist in any
way they can to ensure that your event runs smoothly.
“The staff listened to our ideas and worked them into
something both creative and manageable.”
Genevieve Carden White, Bride
The Venue holds a wedding and civil partnership licence, so both the
ceremony and celebrations can be held on site. By hiring the whole
building exclusively the space can be reinvented to suit your tastes
and ideas. With the mix between the modern and old, intimate and
expansive, Siobhan Davies Studios has the potential to be the perfect
backdrop to your special day.
“It was a wonderful day. It was certainly everything
the bride and groom hoped for, everyone really
enjoyed it and the venue. Siobhan Davies Studios
now has a whole load more admirers.”
Diana Henry, wedding planner
Siobhan Davies Studios boasts some of South London’s most
impressive architectural spaces. Originally built in 1898 as a school
annex, architect Sarah Wigglesworth purposefully redesigned the
building as a flexible event space in 2006. Her intention to bring life to
an old building in a sustainable and innovative way, without erasing the
footprint of the existing building, was successfully realised.
"We danced through our wedding day on a unique and
beautiful stage. The Studios are spacious but personal at the
same time, making our wedding breakfast a feast and our
first dance a ball, yet at the same time the courtyard, seating
nooks and rooms on multiple floors gave our guests room to
chat and relax, and the children space to play."
-Ellie and Dee, Sept 2018
I am always excited to photograph in such a beautifully
versatile space”.
-Emma Hare - Photographer
THE ROOF STUDIO
Capacities:
Up to 120 guests for a ceremony and/or seated wedding breakfast
Up to 200 guests for reception / dancing
16.5m x 12.0m
The Roof Studio is a large, airy space located on the second floor. Its
repeated curved shell ribbons that form the roof and walls allow daylight
to enter the space, producing a lively and stimulating environment but
also a focused and neutral setting. It is isolated physically and
acoustically from the bustle of the world outside and, although the
studio conveys a sense of uninterrupted space, it is still able to provide
intimacy. This highly adaptable space holds a civil ceremony licence
and can accommodate a multitude of creative event ideas! The Roof
Studio is equipped with an excellent sound system and Blu-ray player. It
has the capacity for full theatrical lighting and black out facilities, which
can be arranged for your event.
THE RESEARCH STUDIO
Capacities:
Up to 60 guests for a ceremony
Up to 120 guests for standing drinks reception
12.7m x 6.5m
The Research Studio is a blank canvas of white walls and large
windows. Its dimensions and location within the building on the first floor
provide a more intimate space than the Roof Studio and could be
utilised as the bar, a chill out area, for speeches, or even as a children’s
playroom. It is equipped with a 5.1 surround sound system and Blu-ray
facilities with blackout blinds to accommodate film screenings or photo
projections.
COMMUNAL AREAS
There is a ground floor parlour offering the feel of a homely living room.
The meeting room can be used for storage or food preparation, or even
as a private bridal room. The balcony suspended over the entrance
offers more space for your guests, or even a platform for musicians to
play from. The Dancers’ Informal Space on the first floor is furnished
with comfortable leather bench seats, which have previously been used
as a private location to sign documents or as a gallery space of
personal photographs for guests to admire. Other communal spaces
include the two storey atrium, which adds a sense of drama at the
entrance to the building and is the perfect location for a champagne
reception. The Courtyard Garden is an ideal setting as an extra space
for your guests to enjoy.
