Promar’s bespoke catchment management packagePromar is in a unique position to offer a comprehensive package to supportworkwithfarmersandlandmanagers.Improvingwaterqualityby engaging farmers and land managers to address diffuse water pollution from agriculture is at the heart of what we do. Recent projects have included characterisation and evaluation, behaviour and attitude assessment, engagementwork,on-farmdelivery,andreportingandpromotion.
Delivery of a tailored project for a water company to understand the use of metaldehyde within priority catchments and why it was having an increasing impact on water quality.
Desk-basedresearchanddataanalysiswerecompletedto guide delivery in the target catchments, 30 technical visits on pesticide and nutrient management planning were delivered, and a summary report produced.
Reducing the impact of diffuse pollution on priority catchments
Twodiffusewaterpollutionfromagricultureassessmentswere delivered for the public sector. Catchmentcharacterisation, walkovers and detailed desk-basedresearch and data analysis were undertaken to complete these projects.
Anengagementprojectwasdesignedanddelivered tosupport the involvement of farmers and land managers in thedeliveryofthiswork.Asaresult,technicalvisitswereprovidedon35 farmsandafinal reportwaspreparedusingFARMSCOPER.

Catchmentco-ordinationwasprovided for22months.During this time, three newsletters were produced, 140 visitswerecompletedand12eventsweredeliveredorattended.

Aqualitativeproject forawatercompanytodevelopabaseline of opinions and behaviours towards diffuse water pollution from agriculture.
Engagement meetings were held in targetcatchments to support farmer involvement. Interviews with 28 farmers and land managers were completed and a report prepared based on the findingsofthisworktoguidethecompany’sfutureplans.
