MARCH REMINDERS Inclement Weather If schools in the NLESD close due to bad weather, the Community Centre will also close, cancelling all programs for that day. Programs held at Eastpoint Elementary School: With any program being offered by the Community Centre but held at the school gym, participants are expected to follow these guidelines: 1. All participants must have indoor footwear. If they do not, they will not be permitted to enter the school. (Children who attend the school are NOT PERMITTED to go to their lockers to get their shoes). 2. Participants must use the main entrance to access the gym. The doors to the main entrance will be accessible up to 10 minutes after the scheduled start time of the programs. 3. Only registered participants will be permitted to enter the school. 4. If a participant leaves the school before the scheduled ending of a program, they may not re-enter the building. 5. The same Standard of Conduct that is used at the Community Centre will also be used at the school during our programming. 6. All of our programs are drop-in programs. This means that participants can come to our program and leave when they’d like. Participants can also be asked to leave a program due to certain circumstances (ie bullying, fighting, disrespectful to staff / others, etc). If a participant is asked to leave a program, the participant or staff member will call the participant’s parent / guardian. They will be required to wait outside by the main entrance of the school (supervision will not be available). If you would like to arrange something more suitable for your childs age, please contact us at 579-4534. It would be the parent / guardian responsibility to ensure their child is picked up or alternate arrangements are made. 7. If we are unable to reach you at the phone number that we were given upon registration, your child will not be able to attend programs until a proper number is specified. You would have access to the large activity room plus the use of the kitchen. There is a staff member present during the rental time. You have access the building 15 minutes prior to the rental and another 15 minutes after the rental at no cost. Our fees are $25.00 per hour plus a $50.00 damage deposit that must be paid when rental contract is signed (cash only) to confirm your rental date. Rental contract must be completed at least one week prior to rental. Bookings are not confirmed until fees and contact are completed. PROGRAM INFORMATION

After School Program Is open to any child that attends school from kindergarten to grade 12. A free nutritional snack is also provided everyday to all children. This program runs Monday to Friday from 2:30pm - 4:45pm where children/youth are able to take part in many activities that are offered during the afternoon, such as basketball, crafts, homework, games, etc… Children must be picked up no later than

5:00pm!

Healthy Baby This program is offered by Brighter Futures Coalition but held at the centre every Wednesday from 12:00pm-2:00pm. The purpose of this program is to give expectant mothers (and partners) pre and post natal information/ support. To see if you qualify to take part in this program, please call Brighter Futures (Annette) at 739-8096.

Homework Haven Tutoring will be offered on Monday evenings from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and Thursday afternoons from 3:30pm – 5:30pm. Tutoring is offered to students attending grades 7 to 12.

Basketball Is offered at the East Point Elementary School gym Wednesday evenings. Indoor footwear is required! The program is broken down as follows:

- Girls (Grades 4-6) 6:00pm to 6:50pm)

Youth Leadership Teens, from Grades 7-12 come together once a week and plan various activities, learn leadership skills, team building activities and participate in various volunteer opportunities. Program Overview: Deliver and assist with day camp scheduled activities;

Provide supervision and enforce day camp principles to participants;

Plan and deliver basic camp activities to participants where required.

Excellent communication skills with both adults and children
