Esri Base technology WebOffice 10.2 is released for use with ArcGIS 10.2 and the recently published ArcGIS 10.2.1. This support for ArcGIS 10.x includes the „step“ up to a technologically different ArcGIS for Server, introduced with ArcGIS for Server 10.1. This migration will cause some effort and thinking to re-publish Services (and adapt the Desktop-MXDs they are created from). All WebOffice-Partners have been trained to support this. We also recommend customers to attend a migration training.

Installation and Administration

Automatic Installation

>> >> >> >>

About 8 out of 10 Customers run WebOffice in a Single Server Scenario. To reduce installation efforts for this large customer base, there is now an automated Setup for a number of components. These are:

Java SE Development Kit (64bit)

Apache Tomcat 7

WebOffice 10.2 Webapplication (Release)

WebOffice 10.2 FulltextSearch-Applikation

WebOffice author for ArcGIS 10.2

WebOffice extensions 10.2

SOE (Server Object Extension) Registration Please read the corresponding Documentation regarding automated Installation.

Migration-Tool As mentioned above, this migration from 10 R3 SP4 to 10.2 is special, since the ArcGIS Server this software is based upon has changed significantly. SynerGIS has developed a special migration tool to ease the „translation“ of major elements from 10 R3 SP4 to 10.2. This is valid for:

Application-configuration

Project-configuration

Usermanagement-database

Moreover this tool will check the validity of the above configurations and move the schema to 10.2 level.Details can be found in the Documentation regarding the Migration.

New GUI of WebOffice author WebOffice author was redesigned to be in line with the look&feel of Microsofts Office 2013 Ribbon Interface:

Pleasing Appearance (One color schema, less framing, boxes, lines, …)

The start-screen is revamped

Ribbon-Menus

New Buttons & Scrollbars

Redesign of Wizards (new: Create new Service)

Added a Menu-Tree structure (Multi-Selection, Drag&Drop)

Better Tooltips

More intuitive Stack-Menü

Drag&Drop Configuration of WebOffice author Together with the Redesign, author has been enabled to accept Drag&Drop of projects. This will be easier and faster than previously.

New User-Features

Routing After configuring a routing element, projects will have a routing feature to be used. Routing can use two different Network sources:

The ArcGIS Online service available at https://route.arcgis.com this consumes Esri Credits and requires an organizational ArcGIS Online Account

Create and operate your own service with similar Input/Output parameters

More about this in the Product documentation about routing

Landing Page This newly introduced page to launch application is actually a real portal page. It …

can be adjusted to the Corporate Design of each customer

is extendable to hold project-infos (Photos, Summary and Description, URLs)

makes use of placeholders for infos / updates regarding the application or a maintenance shutdown

is fully integrated into WebOffice Usermanagement: Users will only see the tiles/applications they are entitled to use

Save/load project With the new tool „Add to Favorites“ a user of WebOffice HTML-Client that is on a system with Usermanagement in place will be able to save/restore the current project status as a Browser-Favorite or bookmark. The current project status will include the following information:

Mapextent (Position and Scale)

Mapview

Language

Layer-visibility

Markups By choosing from the list of projects saved, these can be restored or deleted if not needed anymore. See all details regarding Project-bookmarks in the Online-documentation.

Extended ArcGIS Online Support

Fulltext-search for ArcGIS Online-Services If you are hosting Feature Services on ArcGIS Online, there currently is no full text search for those services. WebOffice now offers fulltext-search for those layers, if you include them into your WebOffice project and enable this feature. From then on you use the same functionality and responsiveness as with local services. Read WebMap Each map published on ArcGIS Online (WebMap) has a unique ID. WebOffice now offers a dialog to enter a Web Map ID and access the Map behind it. In case you do not know the ID but want to search for keywords and then use a map found by searching for it, this is also part of the new dialog.
