Standards and Open Source Implementation HarmonizedIn the ONAP Dublin release, both SO and VF-C are aligned with ETSI SOL003 (NFVO to VNFM) through collaboration with the ETSI NFV Industry Standard Group (ISG). The community is also aligning with SOL001 (Network Service Descriptor), SOL004 (VNF Package), and SOL005 (NB APIs). The ONAP community has also started working with the ETSI Zero Touch Network & Service Management (ZSM) ISG. ONAP represented at ETSI NFV plugtests (June 2019, France)

LF Networking (LFN) and the GSMA today announced a partnership to create a common industry framework for Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVi). Thhe Common NFVi Telco Taskforce (CNTT) will operate as an open committee responsible for creating and documenting a Common NFVi Framework. A

The new TM Forum Catalyst proof of concept that is developing a common Business Operating System (BOS) described how ONAP will be used in its reference implementation. In addition, the ONAP community continues harmonization of northbound APIs with TMForum APIs.

The ONAP community continues harmonization of northbound APIs with MEF LSO.

The 5G blueprint team actively supports 3GPP standards in areas such as performance management data collection and others. 3GPP shared with the ONAP community where they are introducing the option of using ONAP VNF interfaces in the 3GPP standards.

ONAP Frankfurt Blueprints

Successful Open Source Development depends on the complete life cycle of projects, products that market will adopt and deploy ONAP Blueprints augment open source projects to address and accelerate Interoperability, Packaging, and Testing under open and neutral governance.

• ENHANCED 5G – Slicing support- End-to-end network slicing- Modeling and orchestration that includes 5G RAN, core, and

transport

• NEW Multi-Domain Optical Network Service (MDONS)- Automated orchestration and management of optical network

services- Focus is on L0/L1 layers that were largely manually set-up and

managed

• ENHANCED CCVPN – New features - E-Line service support- Blueprints from previous 5 releases (Broadband service (BBS),

vIMS, vCPE, VoLTE…)

5G technologies will generate $17 trillion in economic growth in the period to 2035, with the initial stimulus coming from smart-city applications piggybacking on urban 5G rollouts. Source: ABI Research, 2019

O-RAN Outlook

› Objective for the O-RAN vendor ecosystem: concept proven to work reliably, at scale, while delivering performance on a par with traditional RAN equipment and provide quantifiable operational cost benefits to CSPs.

› 2021-2023: Industry analysts expect the vendor community will incrementally harden the ecosystem of O-RAN solutions while delivering architecture frameworks that can be deployed at scale.

› By 2025: The industry is anticipated to reach a critical mass as more CSPs upgrade their network infrastructure.

› Brownfield: With the majority of CSPs worldwide already deploying 5G, O-RAN is likely to be deployed as an overlay on top of the existing infrastructure, rather than a replacement.

› Greenfield: Based on success with 5G, O-RAN would be adopted as the baseline architectural approach for 6G.
