Now What? Easter is over. The tomb is empty. Death and sin have been conquered. All things have been made new. Now what? What do we do with all of that? What does it all mean? If the resurrec- tion changes everything, how does it change us? How do we make sure it changes us? One of my most favorite things about Easter, aside from the empty tomb, is that it falls during the Spring season. The season of new life. Flowers begin to bloom. Trees begin to bud and blossom. Grass becomes greener. Communities become more active with kids playing and families gathering. Life just seems to be happening all around us and for most of it, it happens without any assistance from us. Spring begins to change us from the dormant, “stay home cuz it’s cold out” kind of person to an active, “look at the sunshine; let’s have a cookout” kind of person. When we feel that “Spring is in the air,” we begin to get active and participate in life. We go. We do. Think about those first disciples for a second. Jesus’ resurrection changed them forever. Life NEVER went back to normal for them. Before the resurrection, they were timid and often afraid about what it meant to follow Jesus. After the resurrection, they were bold and outspoken about their commitment to Jesus. They were even willing to die ra- ther than deny that Jesus came back to life. After the resurrection, the disciples continued to meet together and encourage one an- other. Jesus told them to stay in Jerusalem until He sent the Holy Spirit to them. He also said that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came and that they would be His witnesses to the world (Acts 1:8). That power they received was then lived out and seen by others, changing the lives of those that saw and heard the disciples. The Bible says that this new life and new power that the disciples were living impacted the lives of 3000 people in one day! Our new lives ought to be something that shows others the power, love, and new life that the resurrection brings. How do we make sure the resurrection changes us? It is very simple – are we living a new life? If we really believe that the resurrection is worth celebrating; if we really be- lieve that the resurrection changes everything, then we must live as if we believe. We must live like the tomb really is empty. We must live like Jesus really is alive. We must live a new, resurrected life. And we must live like the world really is being made new. Now What?

Easter is over. The tomb is empty. Death and

sin have been conquered. All things have been

made new. Now what? What do we do with all

of that? What does it all mean? If the resurrec-

tion changes everything, how does it change us?

How do we make sure it changes us?

One of my most favorite things about Easter, aside from the empty tomb, is that it falls

during the Spring season. The season of new life. Flowers begin to bloom. Trees begin

to bud and blossom. Grass becomes greener. Communities become more active with

kids playing and families gathering. Life just seems to be happening all around us and

for most of it, it happens without any assistance from us. Spring begins to change us

from the dormant, “stay home cuz it’s cold out” kind of person to an active, “look at the

sunshine; let’s have a cookout” kind of person. When we feel that “Spring is in the air,”

we begin to get active and participate in life. We go. We do.

Think about those first disciples for a second. Jesus’ resurrection changed them forever.

Life NEVER went back to normal for them. Before the resurrection, they were timid

and often afraid about what it meant to follow Jesus. After the resurrection, they were

bold and outspoken about their commitment to Jesus. They were even willing to die ra-

ther than deny that Jesus came back to life.

After the resurrection, the disciples continued to meet together and encourage one an-

other. Jesus told them to stay in Jerusalem until He sent the Holy Spirit to them. He also

said that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came and that they would be

His witnesses to the world (Acts 1:8). That power they received was then lived out and

seen by others, changing the lives of those that saw and heard the disciples. The Bible

says that this new life and new power that the disciples were living impacted the lives of

3000 people in one day! Our new lives ought to be something that shows others the

power, love, and new life that the resurrection brings.

How do we make sure the resurrection changes us? It is very simple – are we living a new life? If we really believe that the resurrection is worth celebrating; if we really be-

lieve that the resurrection changes everything, then we must live as if we believe. We

must live like the tomb really is empty. We must live like Jesus really is alive. We must live a new, resurrected life. And we must live like the world really is being made new.

Otherwise, Easter Sunday is just an excuse to gather family together and buy lots of can-

Sandra McKaig, Alvin Beck-man & Rose Ann Garrison met as the Mission’s Com-mittee on March 28, at 7:00

pm at the church. We discussed the situations with Tonya Small not being able to stay in South Africa due to new government regulations. She will still need support but we thought until we know what she will be doing we would hold off on her support payment. We discussed having a Gideon speaker. Discussion ensured regarding the homeless and what to do with the bags which are ready. Sandra had previously talked about using a fifth Sunday to pack boxes for our active military connected with the church (Brad Biggs, Logan Marshall, Nic Rogers, Dean Shaw, & Levi Speicher). This will happen on our next 5th Sunday during Sun-day School for missions. We discussed Food Finders and Alvin is going to look into Gleaners out of Indianapolis. We are committed to Food Find-ers in September but have decided if the food is not quality we wil be looking for another way to help feed those who need food in our community. Rose Ann will check on another date for High Five Friday toward the end of school and she will make new signs for Missions.. Missions: April—Cheer boxes for our college students—Caleb, Abby, Suzie (already received hers), Emily & Megan. Also, we talked about doing cheer boxes in the fall for those who can’t get out in the colder weather (These people do not have to be from Webb but rather from our community. Sandra is chairman. May/June—Nothing July—School Supplies; Amy is chairman. August—Nothing September—Food Finders October—Operation Christmas Child November—Mitten Tree

Marla Seller, Alvin Beckman & Rose Ann Garrison met at 6:30 pm at the church o March 28, 2019. Discussed

were the following topics: Flowers have been ordered for the children for

Easter Sunday. Ron has offered to tea ch a study by David Jeremi-

ah. Marla has all of the elementary leader postions

filled for the year. Alvin is still looking for leaders for the Junior/

Senior High’Adults studies we have and are look-ing for leaders for are Called (with a dvd), Don’t Give Up by Kyle Idleman (with dvd), imon Peter (with dvd) and the Gospel According to Leviticus.

We will be checking with Pastor Nate about a holi-day schedule.

No Sunday School on Easter, Homecoming, Moth-er’s Day Father’s Day and possibly Memorial Day. This discussion led into talking about whether to have Sunday School during June and July. We will check with Pastor Nate concerning his thoughts on this. After talking with Pastor Nate, we decided to have Sunday School during June & July.

We set Student Recognition for June 2. We will ask questions again and the questions will be asked according to the children’s ages/abilities.

We decided on cake, ice cream, punch, nuts and mints. Rose Ann is in charge of the cake and ice cream; Alvin will see to the punch; and marla will see to the paper products and the mints & nuts. We will all submit questions for the recognition part. We have the following seniors which we will be giving gifts: Daniel McKaig, Zach Sedam, Brock Smith & Conner Walker.

Marla asked that we have the bags the kids use be left in the pews at the end of worship service. She will know then which bags need to be filled in-stead of having to go through all f them. She also asked Rose Ann to order the Bibles to be given to the 3rd graders at Kid’s Club at the end of the school year. The Bibles have been ordered and the monies will come from the Kid’s Club budget.

Rose Ann Garrison, chmn.

December—Help a Family, Ring Salvation Army Bell, Christmas Greetings On April 2, Pastor Nate has a contact in Kokomo and will talk with him regarding sending some of the Homeless packets there. Respectfully submitted ,

Trustee News…

Thank you to every individual/committee that

takes time to clean the fellowship hall and kitchen after using. Crumbs and food spills encourage ants. It’s that time of year!! Please remember to take out the trash. Trash bags are under the hand washing sink in the kitchen. Trash cans are conveniently located out-side the west fellowship hall doors. The east side flower pots are now out of winter storage where they survived the winter and are putting up new growth!

Thanks to Ron Pettet and Ted Speicher for getting them back in their spot on the east side.

Thanks to Steve Nice and Ron Pettet who have worked hard on improving the parking lot by lev-eling donated stone to fill in some of the water holes!

The grass has started to grow and Tony Waddups has started mowing to keep the church lawn neat and

green! Thanks, Tony!

September 13, 1940 The Ladies of Webb Chapel Aid Society met in the basement of the church for the charter meeting of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. Rev. Manning acted as chairman. Gladys Moss was appointed temporary secretary. The meeting was then conducted according to the following program. Mary Roller read “The New Day”. Rev. Manning explained and answered questions concerning the New Society. One was that all charter memberships must be in by October 15, and that our dues would be as usu-al. Mrs. Harriett Allison of Burnettsville gave a most interesting talk. In exchange Charlotte Ide had presented the talk to the Burnettsville Society. We then went up into the church for the Enrollment Ceremony. There were many beauti-ful bouquets . Charlotte Ide acted as leader and Ruth Ide as Pianist. The Ritual followed as in the program. † Diann Sedam announced the Habitat Open

House on March 31 and told about the family that would be moving in. A Blessing Cere-

mony took place at 4:00 pm.

†The community has said farewell to several wonderful

people the past couple of months that included Betty McKaig, Betty Farrer, Charles Schroder, June Stafford, infant Garth Thomas. Remember all of these families in your prayers.

†Alvin Beckman continues to report that Webb Chapel

had the most men attend the Lenten Breakfast that the Webb Men hosted. He is also sure that the food was the best too. Perhaps Alvin is a “little” biased when it comes to handing out the compliments when he’s the cook!

†Ron & Karen Pettet are back in the pews after a safe trip

home from Arizona. Ron thanked Steve and Justin Nice for taking care of his cows for the past three months. They arrived back just in time to begin the cow “birthing season!”

†Thanks to Penny Bannon for sharing her beautiful music

special, “It is Well With My Soul” with us. Continue to keep husband Bob in your prayers as he deals with health issues and a wife that spends much needed time helping out in Louisville. They enjoyed a weekend together in Indianapolis while grandson Khail was playing in a bas-ketball tournament in Noblesville.

† Several beautiful prayers shawls were blessed during a

morning worship service. The shawls were crocheted by a friend of Heather’s and given to the church to present to someone in need of God’s warmth and love during a stressful time. Thanks to Heather’s friend for sharing them with Heather and thanks to Heather for making them available to others.

† It’s great to see Doug Weese back in the pews! He’s

still moving a little slow but slow is good! Pray for con-tinued improvement.

†Good News! Sam Snyder’s MRI was good so he is

regaining strength to start another farming season. Praise the Lord!

†It’s another Sunday and Alvin again “swears” that

the Lenten Breakfast at Webb had the best food!

†Pastor Nate came up with another neat idea when he

ordered large photo frames so members could have an Easter photo taken. Thanks to Heather & Sarah for doing all of the photographer work on Easter Sunday!

†While Shelby Fultz hasn’t made it back to the pews,

she is recovering and will be back soon! Keep her in your prayers that she follows doctor’s orders and takes time to recover.

†Ron Pettet shared news from John Martinez who

attended Webb while working on the Reynolds to Greentown tower line. We miss his cheerful pres-ence and hope he continues to keep in touch.

†Carl Simons has had a rough time since turning 90.

Within a day or two of his birthday he fell and cracked his pelvis while playing with “Nutter.” This required some hospital time; some health care facility time and some therapy while the bone healed. Just as things were looking like he would soon be back home with “Nutter” he required surgery for an intes-tinal problem and spent more time in the hospital be-fore returning to Millers. Keep Carl in your prayers that his recovery will go well and “Nutter” and he will be back home soon. In the meantime, stop by Miller’s for a visit to brighten his day!

†Special Music during the morning worship service al-

ways adds that special touch to the service so when Ron & Karen decided to share a song with us it was a disap-pointment when the electric power went out just as they were ready to sing. Pastor Nate did not let it stop him from delivering his sermon, however, and following his benediction at the end of the service, the power returned!

She thanks Pastor Nate and Heather for getting her to the hospital and bringing her back home. She is taking it easy for a few days, a difficult task for Alcena, but hopes to be back in the pews soon!

†Keep Zach Sedam in your prayers as

he enters the workforce working for a heating & air conditioning company.

†And congratulations to Caleb Sedam

who will graduate from Purdue Univer-sity with his degree in May! Caleb says he is giving up “school” for awhile to do some more travel and clear his mind of studies!

†The pews were full on Easter Sunday
