They provide opportunities for education, training, improving health and reducing disease and resources for income-making enterprises. It has become a tradition for staff at Longroyde to donate money that they would usually spend on Christmas cards to buy an Unwrapped Gift instead. We feel that this is a more worthwhile way to spend our money, as well as saving the waste of Christmas cards. For the past two years we have asked if the school community wished to join us in this. Last year 19 children and their families made contributions totalling £100, and voted for the gifts they wanted to purchase – they chose the gifts of a Goat couple, Chickens, Giving Girls a Head Start, Health for Kids and Mosquito Nets. These gifts really do make a difference to people’s lives. If you wish to donate money this year towards an Oxfam Unwrapped gift, instead of sending Christmas cards and buying teachers gifts, please send your donation in a clearly labelled envelope to the school office by Monday 30 th November. For more information see Thank you to everyone who supported our Remembrance Day Service this week. Please make sure your child has a warm coat and good shoes for the colder weather.
