This may seem like a strange question to be asking but when you see, as we do in school, children falling asleep at their desks because they are tired out it’s a very good question. When we ask our children the question, some of them go to bed much later than most of the adults in school and even then they are playing on games or watching TV in their bedrooms. You don’t need me to tell you how important sleep is to a child and the difference it makes to their work in school is immense. Well done to Tegan and to all the children who represented our school during the recent Tour de East Calderdale. Tegan is seen receiving her medal.,

What time is Bedtime? This may seem like a strange question to be asking but when you see, as we do in school, children falling asleep at their desks because they are tired out it’s a very good question. When we ask our children the question, some of them go to bed much later than most of the adults in school and even then they are playing on games or watching TV in their bedrooms. You don’t need me to tell you how important sleep is to a child and the difference it makes to their work in school is immense. Please help us to help your child by insisting on a reasonable bedtime during the school week. Thank you.

Strictly Come LJS Dancing The inaugural LJS Strictly event will take place tonight at Rastrick Bowling Club. I know from talking to our dancing stars that they have been polishing their shoes and sewing on their sequins in readiness for a fabulous evening. Best of luck to all our Year 6 dancers.

SATs Week On behalf of all the children and families at Longroyde I would like to express my gratitude to all the dedicated staff who have done so much to ensure our Year 6 children could do their best during this week. It is a big team effort which goes on all year and results in the children being well prepared for their tests. Often they will leave a test and say that was ok to which I reply, yes, that’s because you have been well prepared for them. Thank you to all the parents who have to deal with worried children at home; thank you for your support.

Ainslee has written about a competition he entered “On Sunday last week I competed in the Slow Melody Competition at Elland Silver Band. I was full of cold but I managed to win solo 3rd place in 11 and under and in the junior duets 2nd place with my brother Edwin. With my friends we came 1st

in the junior quartets. I enjoyed playing and making new friends in fact I had met a new classmate for September at my new school through the event.”

Hooters and Tooters at Castlefields Our school band have been in action this week playing at the opening of the Summer Allen Library at Castlefields. Thank you to our conductor Mrs Kelly, for organising us and allowing the band to play.
