Context for Recruitment Strategies

This November 2013 recruitment plan draft includes an extensive list of recruitment opportunities that could be pursued, in addition to including recruitment events and processes that are already in place. As with any extensive plan, success will depend on a multitude of individuals and departments. Stakeholders for each initiative will need to select which options are feasible and will make the highest impact, and the plan can be streamlined from that point.

Additional environmental factors affecting enrollment include: economic strength, decreasing funding sources from both the state and the EAV, population fluctuations, unemployment rates, competition (other community colleges and Northern Illinois University), the business and industry profile, etc.

For the purposes of this report, all listed recruitment strategies are included with notations based on the following ranking system:

1. Already in progress

2. Easy to do, high impact

3. Easy to do, low impact

4. Hard to do, high impact

5. Hard to do, low impact

Recruitment strategies developed by Heather Ferguson, Coordinator of Recruitment & Orientation and Jill Bier, Director Admissions, Registration and Records, with assistance from Keith Barnes, Coordinator of the Transfer Center
