CATA BOARD OF DIRECTORS JOB DESCRIPTION
Position CATA Communications Director
Authority & Responsibility
Manages the Social Media, Website and Marketing and Promotion Committees and Committee Chairs
Requirements Strong leadership and management skills Interested in the development of Canadian Art Therapy communications
platform High knowledge and willingness to stay current with communication skills
and other technologies that may aid the work. Serves without remuneration. High professionalism and ethical standards: loyal to the organization and its
membership, avoids conflict of interest, flexibility, fosters positive working relationships with membership, maintains confidentiality of board business.
Member of the Canadian Art Therapy Association with a high knowledge of art therapy.
Strong proficiency in the English language (written and communication skills.). Bilingualism in French is an asset.
Term Elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting. Holds office for a two-year term. Has the option to run for a second consecutive term.
General Duties Abides by and develops the CATA Communications and Social Media policies
Provides strategic direction, oversees and supports the Website, Social Media and Marketing and Promotions Committee in a leadership capacity. This may mean chairing any of these committees, if needed. Ensures that the committees have the human and financial resources they need to complete their work with efficiency and enthusiasm.
Supports Board Committee Chairs and members with a high knowledge of the workings of each committee.
Supervises CATA website developer Responsible for the quality, ethical standards and management of CATA-
ACAT Communications throughout all of the Canadian provinces and in all Canadian official languages. Provides strategic advice and planning on the development of all committees managed.
Responsible for CATA’s public image and therefore strongly ensures that CATA does not undertake or represent any political or other stance that is not representative of all its members and the Board.
Creates monthly reports and sends these reports to the Board on the activities of their committee portfolio.
Supports CATA’s Board and Committee development through communications materials (i.e. prioritizes newsletter, surveys, AGM, volunteers, journal and other CATA committee postings above all other content).
Prepares reports for and actively participates in Board meetings, Special and Annual General Meetings online or in-person.
Organizes and chairs meeting with their respective committees, as needed.
Updates, develops and grows the committee in relation to contemporary needs.
Liaises with other CATA committees and external stakeholders to market their profiles.
Any other business, as needed.
