PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD

Lector: A reading from Haggai 1:15b-2:9

Lector: The word of the LordPeople: Thanks be to God

Psalm 145 ( 1-5, 18-22)1 I will extol you, my God and King,   and bless your name for ever and ever.2 Every day I will bless you,   and praise your name for ever and ever.

3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;   his greatness is unsearchable.4 One generation shall laud your works to another,   and shall declare your mighty acts.

5 On the glorious splendour of your majesty,   and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.18 The Lord is near to all who call on him,   to all who call on him in truth.

19 He fulfils the desire of all who fear him;   he also hears their cry, and saves them.20 The Lord watches over all who love him,   but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,   and all flesh will bless his holy name for ever and ever.

22My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord; let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

Holy Gospel: Luke 20:27-38

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spiritand born of the Virgin Mary.He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE (In peace let us pray to the Lord as we sing, “Lord, have mercy.” x3)

We pray for all who confess the name of Christ: fill us with the power of your Holy Spirit as we sing Lord, have mercy. (x3)

We pray for those whose lives are bound in mutual love, and for those who live in celibacy: be their joy and their strength as we sing Lord have mercy. (x3)

For all in danger, for those who are far from home, prisoners, exiles, victims of oppression: grant them your salvation, as we sing Lord have mercy. (x3)

For all who are facing trials and difficulties, for those who are sick and those who are dying: show them your kindness and mercy. And in our parish we pray for . . . . . as we sing, Lord have mercy. (x3)

We pray for one another: may we always be united in service and love. In the Anglican Communion Cycle we pray for the Lusitanian Church (Extra-Provincial to the Archbishop of Canterbury) and The Rt Revd Jorge Pina Cabral - Bishop of the Lusitanian Church. In the Algoma Diocese we pray for all Diocesan Committees and Social Service Projects; we remember the veterans and civilians who were part of the wars; we pray for all those

who work for peace and justice as we sing Lord have mercy. (x3)

We pray to be forgiven our sins and set free from all hardship, distress, want, war, and injustice as we sing. Lord have mercy. (x3)

May we discover new and just ways of sharing the goods of the earth, struggling against exploitation, greed or lack of concern: may we all live by the abundance of your mercies and find joy together as we sing, Lord have mercy. (x3)

May we be strengthened by our communion with all Christ’s saints. Lord have mercy. (x3)

Together: Almighty God, you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you, and you have promised through your well-beloved Son that when two or three are gathered together you will hear their requests.Fulfil now our desires and petitions, as may be best for us, granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the age to come eternal life; for you, Father, are good and loving, and we glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, in the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Confession Celebrant: Dear friends in Christ, God is steadfast in love and infinite in mercy; he welcomes sinners and invites them to his table. Let us confess our sins, confident in God’s forgiveness.

Celebrant: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us, that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Celebrant: Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

People It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Celebrant We give you thanks and praise, almighty God, through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Redeemer. He is your living Word, through whom you have created all things. By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh of the Virgin Mary and shared our human nature. He lived and died as one of us to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all. In fulfilment of your will he stretched out his hands in suffering, to bring release to those who place their hope in you; and so he won for you a holy people. He chose to bear our griefs and sorrows, and to give up his life on the cross, that he might shatter the chains of evil and death, and banish the darkness of sin and despair. By his resurrection he brings us into the light of your presence. Now with all creation we raise our voices to proclaim the glory of your name.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: Holy and gracious God, accept our praise, through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ; who on the night he was handed over to suffering and death, took bread and gave you thanks, saying, “Take, and eat: this is my body which is broken for you.” In the same way he took the cup, saying, “This is my blood which is shed for you. When you

do this, you do it in memory of me.” Remembering, therefore, his death and resurrection, we offer you this bread and this cup, giving thanks that you have made us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. We ask you to send your Holy Spirit upon the offering of your holy Church. Gather into one all who share in these sacred mysteries, filling them with the Holy Spirit and confirming their faith in the truth, that together we may praise you and give you glory through your Servant, Jesus Christ. All glory and honour are yours, Father and Son, with the Holy Spirit in the holy Church, now and forever. Amen

Celebrant: And now, as our Saviour Christ has taught us, we are bold to say, Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.

hour- temporarily. For the next number of weeks, coffee hour will be in the Thorneloe room.

Over the last 4 to 6 weeks, there has been an increase in the number of marginalized people partaking in coffee hour which has impacted coffee hour.

First: The safety and security of the Parish Hall has been compromised. A number of items have been taken: a coat, scarf, gloves and two outdoor mats. In the men’s room on two occasions remnants of used needles have been found.

We are mandated as a church to provide a safe and secure environment for all functions in the church –both church and non-church activities. We are to provide a safe and secure environment for the vulnerable population which includes the elderly, young people and disabled people.

Second: Some members of the congregation have stated they are uncomfortable with the influx of people and some uncharitable remarks have been made.

In order to ensure safety and security of the congregation as a temporary measure coffee hour will be in the Thorneloe Room. Very soon, a committee of interested people will meet to discuss how to reconfigure Coffee Hour in the Parish Hall to ensure safety and security for everyone.

The Parish Hall will not be used for the next couple of weeks on Sunday mornings. Practically speaking the bathrooms will be available.
