Making Math Meaningful (K-8) Applicable to all mathematical concepts. Includes sections on how students learn math, how to focus on the big ideas,

and assessment and evaluation (i.e. formative and summative). Concepts: Computation, fractions, decimals, ratio/ rate/ percent, integers, 3D

and 2D, capacity, volume, data analysis, and more!An invaluable general math reference guide to teaching student-centered mathematics for all math teachers who have a classroom with diverse student needs. Blackline masters are in a companion activity guide, on the Nelson website.

Leaps and Bounds Toward Math Understandings (K-8) Applicable to all outcomes or mathematics concepts, broken down by strand. Strategic lessons and questions for differentiating instruction that enable

teachers to build on students’ knowledge and close critical gaps in understanding – in both guided and open formats.

Resource CD is also included to help with instruction. Each intervention can be used in a variety of instructional settings-whole class,

Eyes on Math: A Visual Approach to Teaching Math Concepts (K-8) Organized by grade level and concept. Visuals have an explanation, sample questions for class discussion, and an

extension activity. Useful for teachers with visual and/or EAL students.

This resource contains a series of visual and corresponding ideas of lessons and parallel tasks to assist a teacher in creating a more visual basis for mathematics instruction.

strategies The practice of number talks is a powerful vehicle to help students learn to

In her resource, Sherry Parrish outlines effective and engaging ways to teach math to young children and gives educators access to the ideas and methods they will need.

This resource includes a reference table to help teachers easily locate strategies, number talks and video clips. It also includes a DVD.
