generOSity engenderS increaSe

Generosity is essential to our way of life as Catholics. The USCCB describes it as “one who receives God’s gifts gracefully, cherishes and tends them in a responsible and accountable manner, shares them in justice and love with all, and returns them with increase to the Lord.” I give thanks to God for all of you who regularly contribute a portion of your income to St. Mary’s Parish. Your generosity signifies faithfulness and amplifies the blessings we enjoy as a parish community.

Thanks to your dedicated support, we are able to continue the mission of Jesus Christ. This mission includes a rich sacramental life, charitable outreach, catechetical instruction, and Catholic School Education. The impact we make today in forming families as Catholics will resound for future generations of families at St. Mary. Even so as we prepare for

the future we do well to consider our present financial condition.

For that reason, members of the finance council will present the finance report for fiscal year 2016/2017 this Sunday. This report basically states what you gave us and how we used it. The next weekend, a member of the stewardship council will report on what we could achieve with more funding, and on the last weekend of October

I will present our common cause for giving generously from the heart. Then on the first weekend of November, a representative from the Catholic Foundation will present ways to give to the St. Mary Parish Endowment Fund towards the matching gifts that accompany this opportunity for our

continued growth. Lastly, towards the middle of January, I will present our ADA goal for 2018 on behalf of Bishop McGrath. For these 3 giving opportunities I request your consideration.

Your contributions mean so much to me and I want you to know how grateful I am to you for your generosity. Please know that it’s never been easier to give with the introduction of online giving. In whatever way you want to be generous, I ask that you please reflect prayerfully and pledge to make this our best year ever for giving from the heart. There are also many opportunities to strengthen St. Mary’s Church through the gift of your time or unique talents, which is the foundation of a vibrant parish. Please look over the volunteer opportunities our website and sign up.

On behalf of the Finance & Stewardship Councils, Fr. Daniel, James Johnston, our staff and faculty, and all members of our parish community who benefit from your giving, I thank you for all that you do, have done, and will do. May the blessings of God remain with you and forever be a source of grace and lasting peace.

From our School Principal:

Good Morning, Words cannot express my sorrow that Sr. Betty has passed away peacefully last Wednesday, Oct 4th. She was such a bright light to so many people, in fact, to everyone who ever came in contact with her, we are all so sorry for her passing. But, we know that she has gone to a better place and has joined our Lord. While it is sad that she has passed, her spirit, her influence, lives on in everyone who knew her or came in contact with her. She was such a gentle spirit, yet she was so driven to advocate for students. She brought out the very best in everyone she came in contact with, no one could have a bad day after talking to her. You could feel her pres-ence at our school. She will be missed, but she would want us all to remember her fondly and honor her memory by doing our very best for each other. She would want us to show the compassion for others that she did and she will be smiling down upon us as we remember our “Sr. Betty moments”. More information is coming, but I want to start by asking a favor from our community. Please send me your favorite “Sr. Betty Moments”. We are going to put a memorial picture and these stories on the website in celebration and honor of her life and her commitment to our kids and Catholic Education. May God Bless each of you,

Yours in Christ,Mr. James Johnston, M.S.,M. Ed, M. Ed. Admin.Principal
