Year 4 Holy Week Reflection

This morning,` we ended our Lenten journey to the cross with a beautiful

Holy Week Reflection. Year 4 children led the liturgy with thoughtful

reflection for each Station of the Cross, along with beautiful songs

throughout. It was a very spiritual liturgy all done virtually. Thank you to

Mr Finn and Miss Allport and all the staff that supported with this.

Achievement Awards Thank you to everyone who joined us virtually for the Achievement Award

ceremonies this week. The children have worked really hard this term (both at home and in school) and this was reflected in the teachers comments – they were stunning. Congratulations to all the children that received an award. As the star badges (for Golden Children) are expensive, if they are lost then we do ask for a donation of £1 for any replacements. Keep your certificates safe ☺

Raffle Winner Hi, I’m Noah M (Year 6) and I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who bought a raffle ticket from me.

We raised a whopping £215 over the past two weeks and we will be sending

the money to Macmillan.

The winner is Mrs Taggart (from the school office), so a massive well done. Thanks to everyone for your support.

Easter Celebration Day On Monday 19th April, we return to school and celebrate Easter during the Easter season. The children can come in non-uniform and need to bring in a £1 donation for School Fund. The children will take part in a range of activities e.g. making Easter cards and every child will be given a Cadburys cream egg with their name on. The catch is the children have to find their own egg in a hunt on the playground and can only eat the one with their name on! We will be coming together as a whole school during our Easter Celebration Mission with all staff and children as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord.

Year - Marvellous Monarch’s Year 1 had a lovely day celebrating the end of their theme topic with a Marvellous Monarch’s day! We dressed up as kings and queens and enjoyed lots of fun activities. The children made their own sandwiches as part of their D&T lesson and celebrated like Royals with a lovely afternoon tea

Summer 1 P.E An Arbor has been sent out this week to all year groups with all the details for the children's Summer 1 P.E units. Please check this email so you are aware what days your child needs to come to school in their P.E kit and to see what they'll be learning through their learning journeys. BMX Cycling Growth Mindset Day

On Monday we had the privilege of welcoming to the school Mike Mullen, 6x BMX Halfpipe Champion and Former World Master Champion, to work with the children about developing a growth mindset. He taught us the importance of not giving up and learning from our mistakes, or as he liked to call it flearning (learning from our failures). He wowed us with his impressive BMX tricks and showed us flearning in action as he kept on trying until he nailed one of his tricks. Year 6 and some Year 5 children then got the opportunity to flearn themselves through an exciting BMX workshop. What an exciting day they had where they learnt such an important life lesson🙂

Summer Uniform

After the Easter Holidays, children are welcome to wear summer uniform if they wish. This means that in all year groups, boys may wear grey tailored shorts instead of trousers and girls may choose to wear blue gingham summer dresses. In addition, children may choose to wear a blue polo shirt instead of a shirt and tie. Please can all children ensure that they come to school in the correct PE kit of black shorts, blue t-shirt and trainers, on their PE days, so that they can access the PE curriculum. SHOES – please can I ask for children to ensure that they have school shoes for the summer term. We relaxed the uniform policy during our return, but I would like to see a full return to compliancy and our smart approach to school uniform. A lot of children are not wearing school ties, so again, please ensure that the children wear these from 19th March if they are wearing school shirts.

Before/After School Clubs Places are filling up fast for our before and after school clubs starting after Easter. Book your child's place soon to avoid disappointment. These are the only clubs we'll be offering for Summer one. Information regarding how to book was sent out via Arbor on 19th March.

Positive Behaviour Policy Behaviour at Sacred Heart is generally really strong and positive and we have a wonderful House Point system to praise the children and reward them for positive behaviour. However, there are occasions where behaviour falls short of our expectations and we have to implement our Sanction Steps. We have updated our Sanction Steps that we use in school for children who do not follow our Golden Rules; we have been trialling this in Year 5/6 over the past few weeks. This new procedure will link in with your Arbor APP and if a child reaches Step 4 and receives a Red Zone you will get an automatic alert to your phone/APP detailing what your child has done to receive this. We will not be sending Time In letters home anymore. This system will log any negative behaviours that arise and you will be able to see the negative points that accumulate. I am pleased to say that we do not have to use our Sanction Steps very often and the majority of children may only need a verbal reminder to follow our rules. This has been approved at our Local Academy Committee meeting earlier this term and is also available on our Website. The parent link on Arbor will become live after Easter (no news is good news!)














School Meals Feedback A message from Tom O’Reilly (Romero’s Catering Manager): Please can I ask for your assistance in obtaining some feedback from the children in your School via their parents.

Can you ask the parents to help the Catering Team to improve the offering and service of catering within the Romero Schools by filling in an on-line Catering Feedback Form. I have attached a link which I would ask to be sent to all parents

of the children within your School prior to breaking up for Easter. The results of this survey will be compared against the result from the Autumn term's survey.

Romero Primary School Catering Feedback Form Goodbye☹ Today we say goodbye to Kyle Harrison, one of our Lunchtime Supervisors. He has been with us for a number of years and has been amazing outside on the playground with all the children. We will miss his humour and dedication;

volunteering over lockdown to support our school over lunchtimes; delivering food parcels and dressing up over Christmas! We wish him well for the future. Go Well; Go Safely.
