BAPTISM: Sundays during Mass. Scheduling should be made as early as possible, to allow the parents to attend the preparation meetings.

MATRIMONY: The Catholic Church takes preparation for the Sacrament of Matrimony very seriously. Please contact the rectory at least one year in advance of the wedding to schedule an appointment with one of the parish priests. Participation in the Marriage Preparation Program offered by the Archdiocese of New York, along with Natural Family Planning classes, are required. To register for Marriage Preparation sessions, contact the Family Life/Respect Life website at www.flrl.org. Before setting a date, one of the parties must be a practicing Catholic and a contributing registered member of the parish for at least six months.

Dear parish family in Christ, There are very few times in our personal lives when a crisis involves the entire global population. Even though we are unable to gather for weekday or Sunday Masses during this time, we should still work to keep Sunday holy – as it is still the day of the Lord, here are some suggestions in how to honor God while we are unable to attend Mass:

Our Church will stay open from 8 am until 4 pm in the afternoon for your private prayer!

Participate from Mass at home. We recommend that you access daily Mass from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. It is available on the Catholic Channel, Sirius XM 129 and is broadcast live and on demand by Catholic Faith Network (CFN). We have been informed there is an 800% increase in viewers watching daily Mass. Pray the Rosary, or look through the weekend’s scripture readings which can be found at www.usccb.org 3.) Make an Act of Spiritual Communion, the prayer for which is given here: MY Jesus, I believe that Thou art present in the Blessed Sacrament. I love Thee above all things and I desire Thee in my soul. Since I cannot now receive Thee sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though Thou wert already there, I embrace Thee and unite myself wholly to Thee; permit not that I should ever be separated from Thee. Amen. 4.) Spend time in Spiritual Reading, a few good books to have on hand may include: a. “Thy Will Be Done” by St. Francis de Sales b. “Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist” by Brant Pitre c. “Life of Christ” by Fulton J. Sheen The global nature of the pandemic makes us aware that, although oceans separate us, we are one. A principle well known in the social teachings of the Church is the principle of solidarity. As Catholics, we are well aware of the universal presence of the Catholic Church – that these are all our brothers and sisters through Christ. We are one in God. Thank you for your continued support of our parish! We will get through these trying times together! Let us continue as companions on this Lenten journey in the year of Grace, that we become God’s blessings and grace to each other.
