The City of Waukee was recognized on September 15th as the 43rd Home Base Iowa Community in the state. Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds officially announced the designation during a special ceremony.
Waukee Mayor Bill Peard recognized veterans in attendance, including City staff members and Waukee American Legion representatives who have served in various branches of the military. www.waukee.org

Bus Tour! The Waukee Economic Development Bus Tour was held on Thursday, September 8th, 2016. The Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed over 100 guests for the 4th
annual event. The City of Waukee guided the hour long tour showcasing business, school and residential development projects in Waukee. Hosting sponsor the Springs at Waukee provided a Business After Hours following the tour with beverages and appetizers in their clubhouse overlooking the pool.

Strengthening Families Program: For Parents and Youth Ages 10-14 During the first hour of the weekly sessions, parent and
youth are separated. As adults discuss problem solving approaches, effective communication and using loving methods to set limits for their son or daughter, youth will engage in topics of how to deal with stress, set goals and handle peer pressure. In the second hour, families unite and interact through activities to solidify lessons and work toward building more stable relationships while having fun together. Workshops will take place at Waukee Elementary School on Sunday evenings October 2 - November 13 from 5:30-

4-H Open Houses Dallas County 4-H will be hosting two open houses during the first week of October, in honor of National 4-H Week. During this time, families are invited to learn more about what 4-H has to offer for youth in fourth through twelfth grade. Kids in kindergarten through third grade may join 4-H Clover Kids, a program that allows
them to experience 4-H through cooperative, non-competitive learning. Community members who are interested in leading a 4-H club are also encouraged to attend. The first event will take place on Mon., Oct. 3 at the Waukee Community Center, and the second will be held on Tues., Oct. 4 at the Adel Library. Both events will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., and guests are welcome to come and go as they please. Dallas County Extension 4-H staff, 4-H leaders and 4-H members will be on hand to answer questions. Refreshments will be served, and there will be an opportunity for families to register their youth for 4-H onsite.
Great Beginnings for Families This fun, informative series of workshops for parents and caregivers of 0-5 year olds will provide the skills and understanding necessary to raise healthy children. Explore the key principles of child development, positive discipline, helping children cope with anger and conflict, encouraging learning through

William Penn University Welcomes Employers to Participate in
Career Fair
William Penn University is gearing up for the WPU Fall 2016 Career Fair by encouraging reputable employers to connect with job seekers from among William
Penn University students on Wednesday, October 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Clive campus, located at 1275 NW 128th Street. As always, the career fair is free to participating employers and open to the public.
Interested employers will be able to promote job openings, advocate employer requirements and collect resumes from qualified students. Participants will be able to visit with potential employers to see what positions are available and hand out their resumes as well. Refreshments will be available to participating employers, but space to participate is limited. To secure a spot in the WPU 2016 Career Fair, email RSVP to Meghan Brodersen, [email protected]. The deadline to RSVP as an employer is Wednesday, October 5 at 5 p.m.
